Announcements for the week of September 30, 2007
September 27th, 2007 Posted in NewsAnnouncements
Grace Ladies Annual Flea Market and Bake Sale is Saturday, October 13. This is the Ladies biggest fund raiser of the year. Donations of “good fleas” may be dropped off at the church starting the week of October 1.
Our nursery ministry has begun. Check out the nursery room at the bottom of the stairs. It looks great thanks to all your donations! We can always use more volunteers. As of now, we have enough volunteers that you would have to take a turn only once every 2-3 months. See Christi Gaertner with any questions.
YOUTH-The next two weeks you will have the opportunity to sit at tables outside of the sanctuary to offer Christmas wreaths for sale. If you are interested in selling, please bring you wreath forms to church on Sunday, October 7 and Sunday, October 14.
Any high school males who would like to know more about seminary are invited to St. Louis, on January 19-21, 2008. Participants will attend chapel, classes and get to talk to students and professors. If you are interested contact Pastor Gaertner by September 30.
Circle Your Calendar Now! “Missions: Here, There and Everywhere” will be the theme for the Niagara Zone LWML Fall Rally to be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd., on Saturday, October 20th, 10:30-2:00. Rev. Chris Wicher, 1st VP of the Eastern District of the LCMS and pastor of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Cheektowaga, has been invited to speak. There also will be election of officers during the business session, and a potluck luncheon will be held.
Lutheran Witness Subscriptions are available through the church for a rate of $8.75 per year. If you would like to receive a subscription or renew your current one, please contact the church office 283-1843.
Through you contributions to the mission fund at Grace, we reach out and support different missions locally, nationally, and international. Lutheran Campus Ministries is the special mission for the month of September.
What We Learned in Sunday School Today…Today in Sunday School, the children will learn how God used Joseph to feed Egypt during a great famine (Genesis 40–41). God sent His Son, Jesus, to save all humanity from sin, death, and the devil. Talk to your children about how our sins cause suffering for both ourselves and others. Talk about times when sin overwhelms us and we cannot escape it. In His love, God takes care of our needs, physical and spiritual. On the cross, Jesus bore God’s anger for our sins and endured the suffering that we deserve. Discuss the reality that in spite of how awful life seems, Jesus is with us through His Word and Sacraments, caring for us always. The first article of the Apostles’ Creed and its explanation is a helpful catechism connection.
