Sharing God’s Grace: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Announcements for the week of October 7, 2007

October 4th, 2007 Posted in News

Christmas wreaths are being offered for sale by the youth of Grace to finance different youth activities this year. If you would like to purchase a fresh evergreen wreath, speak to a youth at the exits of church after the service. Wreaths cost either $18 or $21 and will be available for pick up at church November 17 or 18.

All youth in grades 6-12 and their friends are invited to enjoy a haunted hayride and bonfire at Becker Farms this Friday, October 12. If you’re interested in carpooling, be at the Grace parking lot at 6pm. If arriving to Becker Farms on your own, plan on arriving around 6:45 pm. The cost is $10. You may use your fundraising money. Bring a chair and a flashlight for the bonfire. There is no need to RSVP.

Grace Ladies Annual Flea Market and Bake Sale is this Saturday, October 13. This is the Ladies’ biggest fundraiser of the year. Donations of “good fleas” may be dropped this week at church. Baked Goods can be dropped off at the church on Friday between 5-7 p.m.

Men- Mark your calendars! There will be a Men’s Breakfast on October 20 at 9 a.m. This is open to all men in the community. The topic will be Community Safety presented by the Niagara Falls Police Department. Come and enjoy some food, hear about what the police are doing to keep you safe and what you can do to protect your home.

Our nursery ministry has begun. Check out the nursery room at the bottom of the stairs. It looks great thanks to all your donations! We can always use more volunteers. As of now, we have enough volunteers that you would have to take a turn only once every 2-3 months. See Christi Gaertner with any questions.

Lutheran Witness Subscriptions are available through the church for $8.75 per year. If you would like to receive a subscription or renew your current one, please contact the church office at 283-1843.

Through you contributions to the mission fund at Grace, we reach out and support different missions locally, nationally, and international. Carolyn’s House (a local shelter for abused women and children) is the special mission for the month of October.

What We Learned in Sunday School Today… Today in Sunday School, the children will complete their study of how God used and worked in Joseph’s life. In Genesis 42–45, Joseph reveals himself to his brothers and forgives them, telling them that though they meant evil, God used their acts for good. Our Lord Jesus Christ reveals Himself to us and forgives us in His holy Word and Sacraments. Families should review and discuss how God was with Joseph, blessing him through all that happened, the good and the bad. Talk about how God has turned bad or evil things in your life or world into blessings for your good.
