Sharing God’s Grace: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Announcements for the week of October 14, 2007

October 12th, 2007 Posted in News

Christmas wreaths are being offered for sale by the youth of Grace to finance different youth activities this year. If you would like to purchase a fresh evergreen wreath, speak to a youth at the exits of church after the service. Wreaths cost either $18 or $21 and will be available for pick up at church November 17 or 18.

Youth, by October 17 please call, e-mail, or speak with Christi to give her an estimate of how many of each type of wreath you’ve sold so far. This is only an estimate and is not binding. Your final order totals are due October 28.

Men- Mark your calendars! There will be a Men’s Breakfast on October 20 at 9 a.m. This is open to all men in the community. The topic will be Community Safety presented by the Niagara Falls Police Department. Come and enjoy some food, hear about what the police are doing to keep you safe and what you can do to protect your home.

Blood Pressure Clinic- Stop by the chapel and have your blood pressure checked for free after the Sunday morning service. This is a service we offer four times a year. It’s a great way to keep track of your blood pressure and only takes a few minutes!

Harvest Food Collection begins today and will continue until Thanksgiving. A table is set up to receive donations on non-perishable food items to be distributed by the Community Mission and the LaSalle Food Pantry to members of our local community who find themselves in need during the upcoming holiday season. Your help is needed!

Our church offers an audio tape ministry. If you would like to receive a tape of Sunday’s service, please contact the church office and let us know and we’ll make sure you get one.

Be sure to check out the church’s new website. You can see a calendar of all the church happenings, read the sermon, request a prayer and read the announcements. Take a look! www.gracenf.org

Lutheran Witness Subscriptions are available through the church for $8.75 per year. If you would like to receive a subscription or renew your current one, please contact the church office at 283-1843.

Through you contributions to the mission fund at Grace, we reach out and support different missions locally, nationally, and international. Carolyn’s House is the special mission for the month of October.

What We Learned in Sunday School Today… The Sunday School lesson today begins a series of lessons about Moses. Today’s lesson (Exodus 1:1–2:10) is about the birth of Moses. The children will learn that God was with Moses, caring for him and protecting him. God saved His people through Moses, who lead them out of slavery. Where is Christ in this lesson? God in Christ saves all people from the bondage of sin and death. Family discussions might touch on how God loves and cares for us (First Article of the Creed) and how God delivers us from evil (Lords’ Prayer, Seventh Petition).
