Sharing God’s Grace: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Announcements for the week of December 16, 2007

December 14th, 2007 Posted in News

Please plan on attending the Voters’ Meeting after the worship service today. We will discuss important budget issues for 2008. Babysitting will be available.

Please take a moment to check out the Sunday School Pageant giving trees in the narthex and the book nook. It works like the VBS trees that we have had in the past. Just take off a star ornament for your donation.

Next Sunday after the Christmas Pageant, Pastor, the Elders, and the youth group will be going Christmas caroling to our Shut-ins.  Everyone is encouraged to join us, no matter what your singing voice sounds like!  A soup lunch will be provided in the upstairs lounge before we head out.

2008 Offering envelopes are now available in narthex.

Through you contributions to the mission fund at Grace, we reach out and support different missions locally, nationally, and international. Lutheran Association of Missionaries and  Pilots (LAMP) is the special mission for the month of December.

We have a unique and urgent mission challenge that has been placed before us. An anonymous donor has come forward with a challenge grant for a new deaf ministry start at the National Institute of the Deaf in Rochester, NY. There is a deadline of December 31, 2007 to raise funds that will be matched dollar for dollar by this donor. If the mission grant challenge is matched, this new mission start can be funded for 3 years. Checks can be made payable to NTID Mission Fundraiser and sent to St. Mark Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 239, 18 Victor Mendon Rd. , Mendon, NY 14506.

What we learned in Sunday School Today…Today in Sunday School, children studied Luke 1:57–80, the story of John’s birth. Zechariah spoke God’s Word announcing that this baby, John, would give people knowledge of salvation in the forgiveness of sins. God speaks through His holy Word to give me knowledge of salvation and forgiveness through Jesus, His Son. In your family discussions, talk about how sin causes us to doubt and fear, but God’s Word gives us reassurance. And, just as God provided John back then to preach forgiveness and the message of Christ Jesus, the Savior, He provides us today with faithful preachers to point us to the Savior from sin, death, and the devil.
