Join us on Wednesday for a “Simple Supper” at 6:00 p.m. before the Lenten Worship service at 7:00 p.m.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Souper Bowl of Caring! We collected 41 non-perishables and $125.10. All donations will stay right at Grace for our food pantry. The cash will be used to buy supermarket gift cards to help those in need buy perishables like milk and butter. Nationally, $2,813,131 dollars and 1,725,782 pounds of food were donated.
Social Ministries Project: For the month of February, we are collecting stuffed animals or characters of any type or size for the Hannah House in Niagara Falls. Hannah House is an organization that helps homeless women and children meet their basic needs. The stuffed toys we collect will be used to provide comfort to the many children they deal with. New and “looks like new” items are welcomed, and should be placed on the table in the narthex. Your help is needed!
PENNY WAR: Our Sunday School children are participating in a “Penny War for Missions” for the month of February. They are encouraged to bring pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters to place in their class containers. Pennies are put in their own class containers and earn them points, and silver change is put in other class containers to take away points. The winning class will receive a special treat and will choose the mission to be supported. So empty those pockets and let’s get busy!
What We Learned in Sunday School Today… Today in Sunday School, the children will study the temptation of Jesus (Matthew 4:1–11). Like us, Jesus was tempted by Satan to sin. Yet, for us, He overcame all temptation because we cannot. In your family discussions, consider how we are tempted to rely on ourselves and to trust in our powers. Provide examples. Assure your children that God lovingly provides all that we need for this life and eternity, doing all things for us and ordering our days and life in His peace.
