Easter 4A
April 13, 2008
1 Peter 2:18-25
“Living in injustice”
Thank you to Pr. Dean Nadasdy of Woodbury Lutheran Church for this outline
How do we handle injustice?
Deny/blind
Blame, Accusation
Bargain and Compromise
Fight back
It is sin to react to injustice with our own injustice. Not only is it sin to react to injustice with injustice it also is empty.
Peasants revolt.
Does living under injustice accept the injustice? No…but it does trust that God is not absent but will be at work.
What did Christ do under injustice? He did not deny it, accuse others, bargain, or fight back. Jesus put himself into the hands of his Father.
Living under the cross, is also living in light of the resurrection. We live confidently that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has given purpose to our experiences. Who in the end do we trust in? Ourselves or our savior who has come to rescue us? We trust our shepherd to guide us through the valley of the shadow of death, because he has also promised that we shall dwell in the house of the Lord Forever?
