Sharing God’s Grace: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Announcements for the week of April 20, 2008

April 18th, 2008 Posted in News

The Blood Pressure Clinic that was cancelled last Sunday, will be held today after the service. Stop by the chapel and have your blood pressure checked for free.

This Saturday, April 26 youth and their families may participate in the Annual Beautify Niagara event. Meet at church at 9:00 a.m. and we will be done at 11:30 a.m. The Niagara Beautification Commission will provide gloves and bags and will also assign us an area. Parents and siblings are invited to attend, too. If you would like, you may attend a picnic for volunteers at the Hyde Park oasis at 12:30 p.m., but we won’t be attending as a group.

MAY YOUTH EVENT Camp Pioneer Work Weekend is Friday evening May 16 through Sunday the 18th at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $35 for youth. Chaperones are free. If youth and/or parents are interested, you need to RSVP to Christi by Sunday, May 4 with a $20 deposit. You may use your fundraising money for the deposit and/or the entire cost.

Next Sunday, April 27 Pastor Brese will be present at the coffee fellowship after worship to sign copies of his book entitled When Story Becomes Life. The book is a compendium of short stories based on his experience as pastor, counselor, administrator, teacher, author, and spiritual educator. The book contains 15 narratives and sells for $17.50 with proceeds going to the Samaritan Center to assist clients who are unable to fully pay for counseling fees.

What We Learned in Sunday School Today… In Sunday School today the children learned how each of us is like the lame beggar as we stand before God (Acts 3). Yet through the means of grace, God’s Word and Sacraments, God bestows on us what Christ accomplished on the cross: forgiveness of sins. In your family discussions, talk about what it means to have the “forgiveness of sins.”

The LWML Spring Gathering is this Saturday, April 26 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lockport from 10-2. Registration fee is $5.00. Bring a dish to pass and come enjoy the afternoon. All women are welcome!

Plans are in the works for a June 14 flea sale to help Grace members attending parochial schools in the fall. If you have a child going to a Lutheran, Catholic, or Christian PK-12 school in the fall and you would like to participate, please contact Christi Gaertner.

The flowers on the altar today are given to the Glory of God in honor of their 45th wedding anniversary and for blessings received, by Joel and Dorothy Kew.
