Sharing God’s Grace: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Announcements for the week of October 12, 2008

October 10th, 2008 Posted in News

The Youth are again offering fresh Christmas wreaths for sale. Wreaths are either $18 or $21 and will arrive the week of November 16. See a youth or Christi to make your order by Monday, October 27. (Youth, if you need an order from, talk to Christi.)

Youth in grades 7-12 are invited to enjoy the Haunted Hay Ride at Becker Farms and then hang out at a bonfire on this Friday, October 17. Meet at church at 5:45 p.m. to carpool up or be at Becker Farms at 6:40 p.m. The cost for this event is $12. We are looking for families to bring the ingredients for s’mores. Youth should bring a flashlight. Adults who just want to hang out at the bonfire will need to pay $5 each.

A new member class-Grace 101 begins next Sunday evening from 7-8 p.m. This class helps people know what this church and pastor believe and teach. At the close of the class those who wish may become members of our church. Even lifelong members of this congregation are welcome to attend this ten-week study that covers the basic teaching of the Christian faith. Please invite and bring as many as you can. If you don’t invite a friend, family or co-worker, who will?

Lutheran Witness subscriptions are available through the church for $9.25 per year. If you would like to become a new subscriber or renew your current subscription, please contact the church office by October 26.

St. Paul Lutheran Church and Preschool is hosting two very special seminars this fall. Smart Discipline, Sunday, October 26 from 6-8:00 p.m. and Walk Through the Bible Seminar on Saturday, Nov.1 from 9a.m.-4p.m. For more information, contact St. Paul at 692-3255 or see our church bulletin board.

Through you contributions to the mission fund at Grace, we reach out and support different missions locally, nationally, and international. The Joseph Fund is the special mission for October. Their purpose is to provide temporary financial help for our brothers and sisters (ordained and rostered pastors and called servants of the LCMS Niagara Circuits) in times of crisis.

Did you know that you can have your offerings automatically deducted from your account? It’s safe, easy and convenient. The program is called Joyful Response. Enrollment forms can be found in the chapel and the narthex, or see Jon Lehning for more information.

What We Learned in Sunday School Today… Today in Sunday School students studied Deborah, one of the Old Testament judges. Through Deborah, Barak, and Jael, God brought about victory for His people and freed them from cruel oppression; through Christ’s death on the cross, God brought about our victory and freed us from sin, death, and the devil. Parents could ask, “How did God use Deborah to help His people? How does God help His people today?”
