Announcements for the week of November 16, 2008
November 14th, 2008 Posted in NewsYouth in grades 6 through 12 we need you for our November youth event! Please come to church at 9:15 a.m. this Saturday, November 22 to volunteer your time. We will be entertaining younger children so wear your play clothes! We will be done at 12:15 p.m.
Christmas wreaths were delayed and will be available for pickup sometime this week. Watch your email.
Grace Ladies are hosting a wine and cheese party at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 25 All women are invited, come and bring a friend.
Next week is the last week to bring food for the Harvest Food Collection. It will be packed and delivered after Thanksgiving. The last weekend in November will begin our Mitten Tree collection. Thank you for your generous donations.
Thanksgiving Eve service will be held on Wednesday, November 26 at 7:00 p.m. Advent Midweek Services will begin on Wednesday, December 3 at 7:00 p.m. with Simple Suppers at 6:00 p.m. The Elders are hosting the first supper on December 3. We are looking for groups and/or individuals to host the “Simple Suppers” on December 10 and 17.
Sunday, November 30th will be Pastor Gaertner’s last day here at Grace. Please join us for a farewell reception immediately following the 10:30 a.m. worship service.
Check out the new Treasury of Daily Prayer from Concordia Publishing House on the book nook. It’s contains everything you need for a rich devotional time. Orders will be taken until December 1.
What We Learned in Sunday School Today… “Saul Becomes King” was the Sunday School lesson for today. Students learned that though God lets us have our own way at times, His is the way of forgiving and saving, which He did for His people of old and for us today. Consider asking, “How did God care for the children of Israel even though their desires were sinful? How does God show His care for us even though we are sinful?”
