Annoucements for the week of May 17, 2009
May 15th, 2009 Posted in UncategorizedSunday School teachers meet today after worship.
We are rejoicing again, yet, still at the news of graduating seminarian, Matthew Sorenson, being assigned to our congregation! It was a privilege to have him and his extended family with us last Sunday morning! He completes his classes at the seminary in St Catharines, Ontario on May 27. His installation at Grace will on Sunday, June 21. More details to come!
On Sunday, June 14 members of the summer staff of Pioneer Camp & Retreat Center will join us for the Sunday School hour and for our worship! A Congregational Fellowship Picnic will follow. Plan to be with us!
Last Sunday, May 10, Re-Commitment Sunday, there were 175 people in worship. 60 confirmed members, envelope holders (some are couples, some are single), completed “Re-Commitment” cards. 47 indicated increasing their prayer & devotion time; 23 indicated their intention to be percentage givers; 43 indicated a specific financial offering each week; 33 indicated a desire to help in the helping & caring ministry of the congregation. Thank you all! Letters of encouragement and request for a participating response are being sent to all who were absent. Please pray for God to continue to bless the mission & ministry of Grace Lutheran!
The LADD Thrift Shop (supporting Lutheran Association for Developmentally Disabled), 8662 Buffalo Ave, Niagara Falls, is planning to re-open after Memorial Day! Spread the word! Repairs are being completed.
There is a sign up on the glass bookcase for the Ascension Day BBQ this Thursday, May 21 and for the Grace Ladies Tea on May 26.
If YOU know any of the people whose mail is still in the “family mailboxes” in the chapel room, please consider taking that mail to them on your way home from worship today. Try to be of help to them in their walk with God. Thank you!
What We Learned in Sunday School Today… The account of “Paul and Silas in Prison” serves as the focus of Sunday School today. Just as God freed Paul and Silas from prison, granting them life out of death, so Christ by His crucifixion and resurrection frees me from the prison of my sins and grants me life eternal. Questions for discussion include “How is this event more that just a story about Paul’s escape from prison?” and “How has God rescued us from the prison of sin?”
Through you contributions to the mission fund at Grace, we reach out and support different missions locally, nationally, and international. Lutheran Service Society is the special mission for the month of May.
Grace will hold VBS July 20-24, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. This year’s theme is Gadget’s Garage. Many volunteers will be needed to make this another successful year. If you would like to help out in any way, please see Randy Broeker.
