Announcements for the week of August 16, 2009

There will be a short Sunday School staff meeting with a light lunch following the worship service today. Please attend if you are able, we have to discuss Rally Day plans.

We are going to order magnetic nametags to help us get to know each other better. The cost is $4 each, (donations gratefully accepted). Let us know how you would prefer your name tag to read on the sheet located at each exit. Note: magnetic nametags are not recommended for those with pacemakers. We can also get a clip style, so be sure to let us know if you would prefer the clip style nametag. Please call (283-1843) or email secretary@gracenf.org the church office with any questions.

Concordia Publishing House is offering special pricing on the new Lutheran Study Bible to be released on Reformation Day. There is a sampler with pricing information in the chapel.

There will be a orientation meeting for prospective confirmation students and their parents in the sanctuary following the worship service on August 30.
Please make plans to attend this important meeting.

Grace is having an Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 24 with proceeds going towards our heating costs for this winter. There will be a planning meeting on Tuesday, August 25 at 7:00 p.m. Please come and share your ideas and help us finalize some plans. We need lots of people to make this a success.
If you cannot attend the meeting but would like to help, contact Dorothy Kew (297-1984).
Through your contributions to the mission fund at Grace, we reach out and support different missions locally, nationally, and internationally. Eastern District Scholarship Fund is the special mission for August.

St. Peter Northridge is hosting Grief Share, a spiritually based program designed to provide support and a “safe” environment for healthy processing that leads to healing. Every person approaches grief with different upbringings, personalities, coping mechanisms and beliefs. If you know of anyone that you feel may benefit from this, please call the church at 433-9014. The new class will begin Sept. 3 from
6-8 and run Thursdays, thru Nov. 19.

St. John Lutheran School is looking to hire a 5th grade teacher for the coming school year, who will also teach 5-8 grade departmental Math. If you are interested, please call the school office at 693-9677.

The flowers on the altar today are given to the Glory of God in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary, by Pastor and Jane Brese.

Thank You to all my Grace friends who wrote notes and sent “get well” and “praying for you” cards! I’m grateful. The knee is progressing back toward normal! Thank you Lord!”
