Announcements for the week of September 20, 2009
September 18th, 2009 Posted in UncategorizedThere will be a Voters Meeting on October 4th – Right after church we will have a discussion and vote on two issues. The first agenda item is a recommendation to resurface the parking lot. The second agenda item is a recommendation to reallocate funds within the current budget. Please plan on helping with these important decisions.
Grace Needs a Lay Delegate – On September 27 Grace Lutheran Church will nominate and elect a lay delegate who will represent our church in voting within the Eastern District and potentially at the LCMS convention. This person must be a confirmed member of the church. They will be responsible for attending a meeting in Amherst on October 4th where our Circuit will elect one lay and one pastoral delegate from our Circuit to attend the LCMS National Convention in Houston TX July 10 – 17, 2010. In addition to going to Houston this Circuit delegate will also need to attend a preparatory meeting in Boston MA in January 2010. So the person that Grace elects on September 27th is responsible for attending a meeting on October 4th and potentially traveling to two other meetings. This is an awesome responsibility as many important matters will be decided at the LCMS National Convention. If you have questions please talk to pastor.
SOCIAL MINISTRIES COMMITTEE: A committee is being formed to plan and help with our Social Ministries projects at Grace, such as the food pantry and mitten tree. If you are interested, our first meeting will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, at church. Speak to Ross or Amy Folmsbee, or just come on October 7.
Plan to attend our first ever Oktoberfest, on Saturday, October 24 from 1-6 p.m. at the American Legion Post 1142 on 8643 Buffalo Ave. Tickets are $10 for a German Platter, beverages will be sold separately. Tickets will be available starting next Sunday, get yours early because there are a limited amount. There is also a sign up sheet in the chapel for volunteer positions needed to make this event successful! All proceeds will go to offset the heating costs at Grace.
Concordia Publishing House is offering special pricing on the new Lutheran Study Bible to be released on Reformation Day. There is a sampler with pricing information on the chapel.
Save Your Fleas! The Grace Ladies Annual Flea Market is coming up Saturday, October 3. This is their biggest fundraiser for the year. Good, sellable “fleas” can be dropped off at the church this week. (No clothes please).
Through you contributions to the mission fund at Grace, we reach out and support different missions locally, nationally, and internationally. Lutheran Campus Ministries is the special mission for the month of September.
The deadline for the October Gleanings is next week, September 22. If you have any information to be included, please see Bev Mills or you can email the church office at secretary@gracenf.org
