Sharing God’s Grace: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Announcements for the week of November 8, 2009

November 6th, 2009 Posted in Uncategorized

Choir will meet at 6:30p.m. this week, right before the Lutheran Band concert at 7:30 p.m.

This Wednesday, November 11, Grace will be hosting Lutheran High Northwest Concert Band from Rochester Hills, Michigan at 7:30 p.m. They will present a 40 minute concert with sacred and traditional music. The theme will be “The Powerful Love of Christ”. We need to find housing for approximately 50 students. There is a sign up sheet in the chapel if you can help out with a bed overnight. The congregation is encouraged to come and bring a friend and enjoy the concert. A freewill offering will be taken.

Reservations for the Traditional Harvest Dinner, Saturday, Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m., are still available. Sponsored by the Historical Society of North German Settlements, the meal features breaded pork chops, locally grown vegetables, and home-made pies. Afterwards, Elaine Timm and Don Schroeder will tell about their visit to Bruessow this year.
Tickets at $15 each benefit the fund to rebuild the Haseley House-barn at Das Haus Heritage Museum in Bergholz. See Dorothy Kew for tickets.

Through you contributions to the mission fund at Grace, we reach out and support different missions locally, nationally, and internationally. Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gowanda, NY is the special mission for the months of November and December.

Please sign up for a nametag if you haven’t gotten one already. The sheet is located on the glass cabinet in the chapel. The cost is $4 each, (donations gratefully accepted). Let us know how you would prefer your name tag to read on the sheet located at each exit. Note: magnetic nametags are not recommended for those with pacemakers. We can also get a clip style, so be sure to let us know if you would prefer the clip style nametag. Please call (283-1843) or email secretary@gracenf.org the church office with any questions.

Grace Ladies meeting next week at 7:00 p.m. will be a wine and cheese party with Show and Tell. This promises to be a fun night out, open to all ladies of Grace. Come join us! We will be holding a Bazaar on Saturday, November 21 from 10-3 with lunch being served 11-1. Come check it out!

Advent is right around the corner and we will be having our “Simple Suppers” starting Wednesday, December 2 at 6:00 p.m. before the 7:00 p.m. Worship Service. If you would like to host, or help host a supper, please contact the church office.

The Sunday School students have studied the story of “Hezekiah Prays” today. Just as Hezekiah prayed in faith to God and was delivered, so Jesus, our mediator and advocate with the Father, intercedes for and with us, granting us deliverance from sin, death, and the devil. Parents could ask, “Why did Hezekiah go to God in prayer? In what ways does God answer our prayers today?”
