Sharing God’s Grace: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Announcements for the week of January 24, 2010

January 22nd, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized

Help for Haiti – The needs in Haiti are tremendous but not beyond our loving and gracious God. He puts us here to be His hands and voices for bringing healing to people in Niagara Falls and in Haiti. Please continue to remember the people of Haiti as well as all of the relief workers and missionaries in your prayers. Once again this week we will have collection plates by the doors so that you can put a donation in the plate. Our donations are being sent to Lutheran World Relief who is coordinating a response in Haiti. You can also donate directly to LWR. LWR accepts donations by phone at 800-LWR-LWR-2, online at lwr.org or by mailing a check or money order to: Lutheran World Relief Haiti Earthquake P.O. Box 17061 Baltimore, MD 21298-9832. Please see the separate note if you are a Thrivent member to take advantage of matching funds.

If you are considering making a donation to the relief efforts in Haiti and are a Thrivent member, please be aware that Thrivent is matching your donation at 50% ($1 for every $2 donated). Checks can be sent to Lutheran World Relief, PO Box 17061 Baltimore, MD 21298 or you can donate on line at www.lwr.org. Your donation will automatically be matched by Thrivent if you are a member.

You are encouraged to attend the Estate Planning Workshop sponsored by the LCMS Foundation after the worship service today in the lounge.

The Youth still have discount cards available for area businesses. The cards are only $10 and can be used thru January 2011. There are 23 area businesses that can be used over and over again, so the card literally pays for itself! They make great stocking stuffers. See any Youth or Pastor to get yours.

Through your contributions in your monthly mission envelopes, we are able to reach out and support different missions locally, nationally, and internationally. Our special mission for January is Hanahiah Church, a Lutheran mission church in Buffalo with 30 members. Hanahiah is located in a very needy area of the city. They are often involved in helping the victims of violence and homelessness that we see on the news each night. Your January mission envelope will help the congregation and pastor of Hanahiah to reach out to those in need.
