March 19th, 2010 Posted in UncategorizedThe last Simple Supper this week will be Potluck. Join us at 6:00 p.m. before the 7:00 p.m. Worship Service.
Last year our PENNY WAR resulted in the collection of over $580 in coins. During the first two weeks of this year’s “war”, we have received approximately $50 in donations. This year’s mission is the “Africa Bikes Project”. Through this project we can purchase bicycles for Lutheran pastors in Africa to assist in reaching areas only accessible by dirt paths. Each bike costs $150. Students are encouraged to donate pennies, which earn their class points, and to place silver coins in other class banks to take away points. The winner of the “war” will be announced on Easter. There is still one more week left to donate!
Are you taking the “40 Day Journey for Hunger”? Grace Ladies and Social Ministries have outlined a daily “journey” to take during Lent to guide us in thinking about the gifts we receive (and often take for granted) each day. Our journey will end soon, and you are invited to bring your donation envelopes to church on Easter Sunday. If you choose to write a check, please make it out to Grace Ladies. Our donations will be donated to Community Missions to help our local hungry. Extra handouts are still available on the book nook if you want to participate.
Spring Cleaning: We are having a Spring Cleaning morning this Saturday, March 27 from 8am-1pm. Please come out and help us prepare our church for Easter.
Attn Youth: We are having a Spring Cleaning Lock In this weekend. Arrive at church at 5:00-5:30ish on Friday, pickup will be Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. If you want pizza please bring $5.00. We hope to see you there!
Through your contributions in the monthly mission envelopes we are able to reach out and support different missions on a local, national and international level. Our mission envelopes for March will be donated to Operation Enduring Comfort, an effort through St. Peter’s at Northridge for local military families while their loved one is away. Dedicated volunteers offer personal help in finding assistance resources and assists in local unit family events. Your donations for this local effort are greatly appreciated.
