Announcements for the week of March 28, 2010
March 26th, 2010 Posted in UncategorizedWe are looking for dessert donations for the Fellowship Easter Breakfast next week. Donations of coffee cake, doughnuts, brownies etc. can be brought downstairs before the 7:00 a.m. Sunrise Service.
Through your contributions in the monthly mission envelopes we are able to reach out and support different missions on a local, national and international level. Our mission envelopes for March will be donated to Operation Enduring Comfort, an effort through St. Peter’s at Northridge for local military families while their loved one is away. Dedicated volunteers offer personal help in finding assistance resources and assists in local unit family events. Your donations for this local effort are greatly appreciated.
Are you taking the “40 Day Journey for Hunger”? Grace Ladies and Social Ministries have outlined a daily “journey” to take during Lent to guide us in thinking about the gifts we receive (and often take for granted) each day. Our journey will end soon, and you are invited to bring your donation envelopes to church next Sunday. If you choose to write a check, please make it out to Grace Ladies. Our donations will be donated to Community Missions to help our local hungry. Extra handouts are still available on the book nook if you want to participate.
What We Learned in Sunday School Today… The key point of Sunday School today was that Jesus is our Passover Lamb, who with His very body and blood grants us forgiveness, life, and salvation. The children learned about the Last Supper, the Lord’s Supper (Luke 22:1–23). In your family discussions, talk about the benefits and blessings that we receive in the Lord’s Supper. Talk about and remind the children that such benefits are theirs through their Baptism, in Holy Absolution (the forgiveness of God spoken by the Pastor), and through God’s Word, which is preached and taught to them. In the catechism, review the Lord’s Supper.
