Announcements for the week of May 9, 2010

There is a sign up sheet on the glass case in Chapel for the Annual Ascension Day Chicken BBQ this Thursday, May 13. Chicken and beverage will be provided, we need donations of salads and desserts.
Vacation Bible School will be held August 2-6. We’ll start with a simple supper at 5:30 p.m. and the VBS program from 6-8. There is a planning meeting scheduled for next Sunday after the worship service. If you would like to help, but are unable to attend the meeting, please contact the church office or Randy Broeker.
Grace Ladies annual Potluck will be held on Tuesday, May 25 at 6:00p.m. The McSweeney’s will be here to do a presentation on their trip to the Holy Land. Please see the sign up sheet in the chapel.
We would like to acknowledge our graduates in the June Gleanings. If you know of anyone graduating from college or high school this year, please contact Jane Schulz (283-3628) or the church office.
SOCIAL MINISTRIES PROJECT: During May and June we will be collecting toiletries and all types of stuffed characters. These items will be donated to the Community Mission and Carolyn’s House (which provides housing and career training for homeless women and their children in Niagara Falls.) Both agencies have expressed a dramatic increase in the need for these items for the homeless. A table has been set up in the narthex to receive your donations. Your generosity is appreciated!
Through contributions in your monthly mission envelopes, we are able to reach out and support various mission projects. Our mission envelopes for May and June will be donated to Papyrus Camp at Camp Pioneer. This is a special camp for foster and inner city children. The name Papyrus Camp is taken from the Bible story about Moses being hidden in a papyrus basket in the Nile River by his Hebrew mother, and then being found and saved by his Egyptian foster mother. This camp provides hope for the future and is the opportunity of a life time for these special children. It costs $390 to send one child to camp for a week. If your prayers move you to help send a child to camp, please place your mission envelope, or an envelope marked “Papyrus Camp”, in the offering plate. Watch our progress on the bulletin board in the narthex.
New Small Group Bible Study – Looking for another opportunity to better understand what God is doing in your life? An opportunity to get to know other members better? Or just an opportunity to relax in a Christian environment? Please consider joining us for a new small group Bible study called Breadbreakers. Our first meeting was held this past Saturday. The next one is scheduled for June 5 at 5 PM at the Sorenson’s house. Plan on joining us!
