Announcements for the week of October 3, 2010

Breadbakers Bible Study was postponed from Saturday to tonight at 5:00 p.m. at Pastor Sorenson’s home. Join Us!

Creating Our Future meetings are in full swing. The next meeting is this Thursday, October 7 at 7:00pm. Please consider coming even if you haven’t attended before.

Our annual Harvest Food Collection will begin next week. A table will be set up in the narthex to receive your donations of non-perishable boxed and canned food items. We will restock our food pantry with your donations, and extras will be given to our local food pantry for distribution to those in our neighborhood in need. Please remember this project as you grocery shop. We will continue to collect your gifts until Thanksgiving.

Corn Maize Night for Youth Group this Friday! We are planning on having a fun night together which will include a trip to the corn maize. If you would like to attend, plan on meeting at the church at 6:30 PM on Friday October 8th. Please bring friends, a flashlight and $12 for the admission fee and refreshments! We are also planning a youth get together fun night for Friday, October 22 at 6:00 p.m.

Our Special Mission Envelopes for the rest of this year will be designated to “Hearts for Haiti”. This is an effort by First Trinity Lutheran Church on Niagara Falls Boulevard to raise $35,000 to rebuild a Lutheran church and school damaged in this year’s earthquake. Since the earthquake, there has been no organized educational system in the effected areas. First Trinity sends a group of their members to Haiti annually to minister to the needs of the Haitian people, who continue to be in great need since the devastating earthquake. Each dollar we donate will buy one cinder block for their rebuilding effort!

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS: Please check each week for cards to sign on our book nook in the chapel. Social Ministries sends greeting cards on a regular basis to help brighten a day or celebrate a special event. The more signatures, the better! If you know of a member or friend who could use a greeting card, mention it to Carl or Helene Reisig or leave a note in their mailbox.

We would like to stay connected to our young people attending college either locally or away. Please contact the church office or place a slip in the offering plate providing the name and contact information for your college student.

Thanks to everyone who donated to and volunteered at the Flea Market and Bake Sale.

Looking for something to do this afternoon? Unchanging Grace will
present a concert of contemporary Christian music to raise funds and awareness for “UR Uganda: Clinics for Lugala” Sunday, October 3rd at 5 pm. at
