Annoucements for the week of October 10, 2010

Have your BP checked today! Our congregation’s nurses offer free blood pressure checks several times a year. Stop by the chapel after the service today and look for Michele Stenzel, who will be glad to check your BP. Michele is an R.N. at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. And thank you to Doreen Herbst who helps with our record keeping.

Our FOOD PANTRY collection table has been set up in the narthex. We will continue to accept your donations of non-perishable food items until Thanksgiving. We use your gifts to restock our own pantry, and extras go to our area food banks. The need will be great over the coming holidays, so please remember this project as you do your grocery shopping. Your help is appreciated!

Our Special Mission Envelopes for the rest of this year will be designated to “Hearts for Haiti”. This is an effort by First Trinity Lutheran Church on Niagara Falls Boulevard to raise $35,000 to rebuild a Lutheran church and school damaged in this year’s earthquake. Since the earthquake, there has been no organized educational system in the effected areas. First Trinity sends a group of their members to Haiti annually to minister to the needs of the Haitian people, who continue to be in great need since the devastating earthquake. Each dollar we donate will buy one cinder block for their rebuilding effort!

The Church Basement Ladies are back! Their “Christmas Away in a Basement” will be presented Thursday, November 18th at 2 or 7pm at the Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda. This a live musical comedy, tickets are $25 – due by next Sunday, October 17. There is a sign up sheet on the glass case in the chapel. For more information, see Laura Lehning.

Youth: There is a fun night get together planned for Friday, October 22 at 6:00p.m. at the church. Hope to see you there!

Do you know about the small group bible studies available at Grace? Women’s Cottage Bible study starts up again this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the home of Ruth Kumm and runs for six weeks. Breadbakers’ Bible Study meets at the home of Pastor and Beth Sorenson at 5:00, the first weekend of every month. There is also Wednesday morning Bible Study from 9:30-10:30 and Sunday morning Adult Bible class at 9:00 a.m. Please consider joining us for all or some of the classes, the more the merrier!

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS: Please check each week for cards to sign on our book nook in the chapel. Social Ministries sends greeting cards on a regular basis to help brighten a day or celebrate a special event. The more signatures, the better! If you know of a member or friend who could use a greeting card, mention it to Carl or Helene Reisig or leave a note in their mailbox.
