Annoucements for the week of January 9, 2011

BP Clinic: You can have your blood pressure checked for free today after the service. This is a service offered several times a year, sponsored by our Social Ministries Committee. Stop by the chapel and look for Amy Folmsbee, who is a registered nurse and nursing instructor at NCCC.

Our GIVING TREE was a huge success thanks to your generosity. As of last week, we had collected over 360 items to be delivered to four local agencies. Deliveries will be made starting this week. Any donations brought today will be included. Thank you for your help in making this project a success.

“Hearts for Haiti” was our designated special mission envelope project for the last quarter of 2010. We collected $358.65 to help the mission team from First Trinity Lutheran in Tonawanda help rebuild a church and orphanage. Their mission team will be returning to Haiti for the first anniversary of last year’s earthquake to continue offering their help.

SPECIAL MISSION ENVELOPES: Over 140 local soldiers from the 914th Airlift Wing in Niagara Falls were deployed this week for a four month assignment to an undisclosed location in southwest Asia. Our special mission envelopes for January and February will be designated for “Operation Enduring Comfort” at St. Peter’s. This is a group of volunteers from St. Peter’s that brings together local families of deployed servicemen for regularly scheduled activities. Through these activities, families are able to connect with and support each other during the stressful time that their loved one is stationed overseas. The work of “Operation Enduring Comfort” is funded completely through donations. Your generosity will be appreciated by our local military families.

Attn Youth: We have two events planned for January. We are going sledding at the Reservoir this Saturday, Jan. 15 at 1:30 pm. Then on Saturday, January 29 we are going to Lasertron at 7:00 p.m. There is a sign up sheet for both events on the bulletin board in the hallway across from the office.

On Sunday, January 23, we will have a Congregational Meeting after the worship service. This will be an opportunity to hear a report for 2010 from the various boards at Grace. A light lunch will be served. Good things are happening at Grace. Come hear all about it and share your ideas!

Through LCEF Joyful Response program our church can receive electronic payments directly from personal bank accounts of LCEF Steward Accounts. It’s simple, safe, convenient, and makes it easy to be a faithful servant when you are sick or the weather is bad. Interested? Talk to Jon Lehning.

Check out the Opportunities to Serve information on the bulletin board next to the office. If you are looking for new ways to get involved in 2011 there might be something just right for you!
