SPECIAL MISSION ENVELOPES: The 914th Airlift Wing in Niagara Falls is currently deployed to southwest Asia. Our special mission envelopes for January and February are designated for “Operation Enduring Comfort”. This is a volunteer group at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Cambria that provides support, family activities, and opportunities for networking to the relatives of local servicemen while their loved ones are deployed overseas. Their work is funded completely through donations. Your generosity will be appreciated by our local military families during this stressful time.
The flower chart for 2011 is posted in the narthex. If you would like to place flowers on the altar for a particular Sunday, just write your name along side that date. Current costs: centerpiece- $35.00 and 2 vases- $45.00.
Seldom seen photos of the fall of the Schoellkopf Power Station, taken from within the gorge just before and as it collapsed, will be shown at the next meeting of the Historical Society of North German Settlements in WNY.

The meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, in the Wheatfield Community Center, Church Street, St. Johnsburg. He has many other photos, movies and artifacts of the crash, which took place June 6, 1956. It changed the economy of the Niagara area. Only one man was killed. His son will be at the meeting.
