Announcements for the week of October 9, 2011

There will be a BP clinic in the chapel after church today. Stop by and have your blood pressure checked for free by a registered nurse.

Our next Creating Our Future Meeting will be Tuesday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m. (Please note, this is a change from the Gleanings calendar). We encourage everyone to attend, even if you haven’t attended before. We would like as much feedback as possible as we make plans for the future of Grace.

LADD Thrift Shop on Buffalo Ave. is in need of volunteers (men and women) to work in the shop. The store is open Monday thru Saturday from 10-3. You could choose to work as many or as few hours as you would like. For more information see Ursula Zimmerman or Janette Lemley.

DISASTER RELIEF is still needed after flooding and earthquakes have caused damage to many areas of the northeastern United States–Our LCMS Eastern District disaster relief budget has been called on to help this nearby region. They have provided help to several congregations affected by the recent earthquake and hurricane flooding that occurred in New York, Pennsylvania, and New England. We have designated our Special Mission envelopes for October and November to help our neighbors recover from the damage they experienced.

Let There Be Light Conference
T-shirts are available at Grace for $10. Additional donations still gratefully accepted to help defray the cost. Please contact Mark Binkley.

FOOD COLLECTION: Our annual Harvest Food Collection has begun and will continue until Thanksgiving. We are collecting all non-perishable canned or boxed food items. We also need donations of frozen turkeys. Food can be left on the table in the narthex or on the book nook. (Turkeys left on the table will be moved to our downstairs freezer.) Your donations will be used to restock our pantry. Extras will be donated to Niagara Falls food pantries after Thanksgiving to help them restock for the Christmas season. Your generosity is appreciated by the agencies serving hundreds in Niagara Falls who need our assistance to feed their families. If you know of someone needing assistance, please speak to Pastor Sorenson. All information is kept confidential.

Lutheran Campus Ministry needs Dinner Help in support with its missions to college students. The first Wednesday of the month we would need you to provide a dinner for about 25 people before our evening worship. It will need to be there by 5:45pm each Wednesday. You can cook it there or bring it. Other Wednesdays we still need dinner, but only for up to 10 people. If you could stay during the 6-7pm hour, that would be great but you wouldn’t need to be there the whole night. Pick a Wednesday and contact Jeff at 833-6950 or by email

Grace Ladies would like to thank everyone who supported our Annual Flea Market and Bake Sale yesterday. We couldn’t have done it without you!
