Announcements for the week of October 30, 2011

There will be a Congregational Voters’ Meeting after the worship service on Sunday, November 27th. The Budget will be discussed and we will elect a congregational lay delegate to represent us at the District Convention in Buffalo on June 15-16, 2012. The newly elected lay delegates will meet briefly on Tuesday, November 29. In addition, the lay delegate will have added responsibilities and privileges to serve beyond the District Convention as only Delegates to the District Convention are eligible to serve as Delegates to the National Convention. Please use the weeks leading up to the meeting to prayerfully consider nominations for this position. See Pastor Sorenson if you would like more information on what is involved.

Let There Be Light T-shirts are on sale for just $5. Most sizes are still available. To get yours, see Mark Binkley.

LADD Thrift Shop on Buffalo Ave. is in need of volunteers (men and women) to work in the shop. The store is open Monday thru Saturday from 10-3. You could choose to work as many or as few hours as you would like. For more information see Ursula Zimmerman or Janette Lemley.

FOOD COLLECTION: Our annual Harvest Food Collection has begun and will continue until Thanksgiving. We are collecting all non-perishable canned or boxed food items. We also need donations of frozen turkeys. Food can be left on the table in the narthex or on the book nook. (Turkeys left on the table will be moved to our downstairs freezer.) Your donations will be used to restock our pantry. Extras will be donated to Niagara Falls food pantries after Thanksgiving to help them restock for the Christmas season. Your generosity is appreciated by the agencies serving hundreds in Niagara Falls who need our assistance to feed their families. If you know of someone needing assistance, please speak to Pastor Sorenson. All information is kept confidential.

DISASTER RELIEF is still needed after flooding and earthquakes have caused damage to many areas of the northeastern United States–Our LCMS Eastern District disaster relief budget has been called on to help this nearby region. They have provided help to several congregations affected by the recent earthquake and hurricane flooding that occurred in New York, Pennsylvania, and New England. We have designated our Special Mission envelopes for October and November to help our neighbors recover from the damage they experienced.
