Announcements for the week of November 27, 2011

There will be a Congregational Voters’ Meeting following the worship today. The budget will be discussed and we will elect a Congregational Lay Delegate to represent us at the District Convention in Buffalo in June.

Stay and help us decorate the church for Christmas after the Congregational Voters Meeting today. We’ll have a quick pizza lunch and then get to work.

Join us this Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. for Simple Supper followed by Advent Worship at 7:00p.m. If you are interested in helping out at one of the suppers, contact the church office or tell Pastor.

Grace Ladies Annual Christmas Dinner is Tuesday, December 6 at Grace at 6:00 p.m. Dinner will be catered by Suzanne’s Fine Dining and entertainment will be Denise Reichard. There is a sign up sheet on the glass case in the chapel. Cost is $11 per person; reservations must be made and paid by December 1st

Gone are the days when Lutheran Hour would ship dozens of devotional booklets to us. Now they send one electronic file and we do the production work. So, we’re busy printing copies of Transforming This Christmas for our Advent daily devotions. Take one for your own use and take others to pass along to friends, family and neighbors. The inside cover includes an invitation to join us in worship during the Advent season.

ADVENT GIVING TREE: Christmas trees have been set up in the narthex and the chapel with “ornaments” that request items that will be helpful to our neighbors in need. This year we are working with Summit Life Outreach on Pine Avenue, and the Magadalene Project on Falls Street. Both are Christian agencies working with some of the poorest and most desperate in our own city. If you wish to participate, please take an ornament off the tree and bring the item back to the table unwrapped. We will continue this project through the holiday season.

CONFIRMATION ROBES: If you took a robe and have not yet returned it, please do so ASAP. Our Christmas program is only three weeks from today, and we need to make these robes into angel costumes. Thank you to all who are helping with this project!

THANK YOU for your generous donations to our Harvest Food Collection. After restocking our own food pantry, the extras were delivered to the Community Mission and to St. Vincent de Paul food pantry on Military Road. They anticipate providing food for upwards of 250 people over the holiday season. There is much need in our community. Your help is appreciated!

If you don’t have a Bible at home, or know someone who doesn’t have one, feel free to take one of the Bibles on the glass case or in the tract rack in the chapel.
