VBS–There will be a short meeting after church today for anyone interested in helping with VBS this year. VBS will be held from July 23 – July 27, 6 – 8 p.m. We have many opportunities to help for the whole week, or for just an evening or two. Help is needed in many areas. If you can’t attend this meeting but are interested in helping, please let Amy Folmsbee know.
One child in Africa dies every 60 seconds from malaria. In a single 24-hour period-one day -1,440 people in Africa will succumb to this disease. World Malaria Day offers an opportunity to raise awareness of the devastating effects of this disease and encourage people to join in the worldwide effort to end malaria death in Africa by 2015. On Wednesday, April 25- World Malaria Day- please join us in a moment of prayer at 2:40 p.m. as we consider the 1,440 Africans who die each day from malaria and remember in prayer all who suffer from malaria or will lose a child or other family member to the disease.
Annual Spring Fest- Mark your calendars! Saturday, June 2 is our Annual Springfest at the American Legion on Buffalo Ave. There is a sign up sheet on the glass case in the chapel for volunteer positions.
Special Missions- our special mission envelopes for March and April have been designated to help the Magdalene Project of Niagara Falls. This Christian organization, headquartered at St. George’s Church on Falls Street, reaches out to the
homeless and poor. Although they serve all who contact them in need, their special focus is on the homeless and abused woman in our city who have resorted to a life of prostitution to support themselves or their children. They offer food, clothing, and the Word of the Lord as they drive through our streets at night, searching out those in need. They have also started an after school program where young children can feel safe while they learn about Jesus through Bible lessons, crafts, and games. The Magdalene Project is funded through donations and support of the church.
Lutheran Hour Grant- they have received a $100,000 Matching Grant that can double your gift of support. Lutheran Hour remains the longest-running Gospel outreach program on radio. Go to lhm.org to donate today. Thank you for your prayerful consideration.
