Announcements for the week of September 2, 2012

Fall Schedule – Be sure to check “This Week at Grace” as we go back to our fall schedule. Social Ministries resumes their meetings this Wednesday at 6:00 and Choir Practice at 7:00 pm.

Red Cross Blood Drive – There will be no Blood Drive at the church this weekend. The next one will be on Saturday, September 22 from 10-3 pm.

Rally Day Picnic -There is a sign up sheet on the book nook for our Annual Rally Day Picnic September 9 after the worship service.

New Class – All high school and college kids are invited to a new get together the second Sunday of every month 9-10:15am. We will meet in the Youth room with Mr. Randy Broeker to talk about life, world happenings, and keeping the faith. Plus, there will be breakfast! Join us starting September 9.

Flea Market – Our annual Flea Market is Saturday, September 15 from 9-3. If you have anything “good fleas” to donate you can drop them off at the church or contact the church office if you need a pickup. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and any help is greatly appreciated.

Food Pantry – Our food pantry at Grace is running low on tuna, canned pasta (like “Spaghetti-O’s”), and chunky style soups.  We will begin our annual food collection in October, but if you can help out with a small donation of one of these items in the meantime, it would be appreciated by those who come to us in need.  Donations can be left in the chapel or in the food pantry.  Thank you for your generosity.

Summer Social Ministries Projects – One week left:  Our summer Social Ministries projects have been to collect underwear, socks, and school supplies for our Niagara Falls school children in need.  We will continue to accept donations through Rally Day on September 9.  After that, all school supplies and school aged underwear and socks will be delivered to Harry Abate School in Niagara Falls, a school with many disadvantaged families who cannot afford these items.  There are boxes in the narthex and chapel for your donations.  Thank you for your help in making this annual project a success each year!

Special Missions – Our special mission envelopes for August and September have been designated for the education assistance funds at St. John and Holy Ghost schools.  These funds help families in our area and our congregation afford Christian education as an option for their children.  We have several families that are connected to these schools.  We also have two members on the faculty, with Jane Schulz at St. John and Marla Crawford at Holy Ghost.  Both of these schools provide quality education and are consistently given high rankings by Business First.
