Announcements for the week of November 11, 2012

Hurricane Sandy Relief Funds –  In today’s bulletin, you will find an envelope for donations to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy in the east coast area.  Our Lutheran Church’s Eastern District is accepting donations to support the work their volunteers are doing in that area to help those affected by the storm.  If you wish to help, you can place a check or cash in the envelope this week (or next Sunday) and place it in the offering plate.  Our Social Ministries committee will make sure that your donations, along with designated funds from our budget, are passed on to support the work of those on the front line of recovery efforts.  Thank you for your generosity.

Harvest Food Collection Last Week –  Next Sunday and our Thanksgiving service are the last two opportunities to donate to our annual Harvest Food Collection.  All non-perishable food items (boxed and canned), and frozen turkeys are welcome.  Donations in excess of what we can use here at Grace are being donated to the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry which serves the LaSalle area.  With the economic state of our area, the need is great.  Please help us help our brothers and sisters in need this holiday season.

Sunday morning Bible Study -starts a new topic on December 18th. It will lead us through the entire Bible in one year. Come join us on the journey.

Special Mission – our special mission envelopes for October thru December have been designated for the Samaritan Counseling Center, our 13 faith-based centers in WNY. SCC provides counseling, consultation and education in a spiritual environment for children, adolescents, individuals couples, families and clergy. Fees are on a sliding scale to provide services at little or no cost because of church donations. Brochures can be found on the glass case in chapel.

Niagara County Diabetes Education Program – will hold its next class, entitled “Fabulous Feasting: a Healthy, Holiday Happening” this Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. at Grace. The meeting is open to the public and coffee will be served. For further information, call 283-9034.

Turkeys – Area food pantries need donations of frozen turkeys for the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.  If you care to donate a turkey, it can be placed in the downstairs kitchen freezer, or you can place it on a table in the narthex or chapel on Sunday morning.  We will move it to the downstairs freezer for you.  Thank you for helping your neighbors in need to celebrate your generosity this holiday season.
