Announcements for the week of April 14, 2013

Blood Pressure Clinic- Stop by the chapel after church and have your blood pressure checked by Trish Andrews, a nurse practitioner.  Social Ministries offers this opportunity four times a year for free–don’t miss your chance!

Sign Up for a Health Screening – There are sign up sheets at both doors so that you can schedule an appointment for your health screening.  There will also be representatives at the doors to answer any questions you may have.  It only takes 15 minutes and it could improve the quality of your life.  Join us as we work together to be better managers of what God has given us.

Special Mission – Our Special Mission envelopes for April have been designated to support the  COMFORT DOG MINISTRY of Lutheran Church Charities.  The handlers of these specially trained therapy dogs travel with them to crisis situations such as Sandy Hook and Hurricane Sandy.  The dogs are incredibly successful in helping both adults and children cope with the stress they face after these types of disasters.  Lutheran Church Charities has alternate sources of funding for their administrative costs, which means that 100% of your donations will go directly to travel and care expenses for their dogs.

Altar Flowers – The flowers on the altar today are given to the Glory of God in loving memory of Lillian Roszel, by her sons Claire and Ronald.

Pipe Organ Q and A –  Please join us up in the loft on Sunday, May 5th after service for a brief talk on our pipe organ.  Come and meet TJ Mudd, music director from St. Luke Lutheran Church.  TJ will share his experience and knowledge after recently making improvements to the organ at St. Luke’s.  This is an opportunity to get a close look at our pipe organ and how it operates, review recent repair estimates obtained for our pipe organ and ask questions about repair options. Call Trish Andrews with any questions.

Spring Fest – Our annual German Spring Fest is planned for Sat. June 22 from 1-7pm at the American Legion on Buffalo Ave. Many volunteers are needed to make this another successful year. If you can help, a sign up chart is at the book nook in the chapel. For more information, contact Ursula or Les Zimmerman at 283-5863.
Beautify Niagara Clean Up Day – this Sat. starting at 8:00 am. Beautify Niagara is a city-wide clean up co-sponsored by the Niagara Beautification Commission.  Large groups of volunteers from all across the city come together to “Paint up, Clean up, and Rake up”. For more information or to sign up see Pam Simcox. Buffalo Niagara Riverkeepers will also be working on the plantings on the creekside that day. If you would like to work with them, please register ahead online at so that they know about how many helpers they will have.
