Announcements for the week of April 28, 2013

Sign Up for a Health Screening Screenings start today. There are sign up sheets at both doors so that you can schedule an appointment for your screening, but walk ins are welcome. There will also be representatives at the doors today to answer any questions you may have.  It only takes 15 minutes and it could improve the quality of your life.  Join us as we work together to be better managers of what God has given us.

Spring Clean Up Day – A clean up day is planned for this Saturday, May 4 starting at 10:00 am to spruce up the church. Everyone is welcome.

Tuesday Bible Study -The Tuesday evening Bible Class studying the Gospel of John will wrap up for the spring this Tuesday evening at 7, with a plan to resume in the fall.

Lutheran K-9 Helpers Head to Boston – Our Special Mission envelopes for April have been designated to support the COMFORT DOG MINISTRY of Lutheran Church Charities.  These specially trained dogs act like “furry counselors”, helping the victims of disasters cope with the stress they feel after a tragic event.  Five golden retrievers were stationed at First Lutheran Church in Boston, only blocks from the marathon’s finish line.  They were available to all in need, and made visits to the wounded hospitalized patients.  Lutheran Church Charities will be directing 100% of your donations directly to travel and care expenses for the dogs.

Pipe Organ Q and A –  Please join us up in the loft next Sunday, May 5th after service for a brief talk on our pipe organ.  Come and meet TJ Mudd, music director from St. Luke Lutheran Church.  TJ will share his experience and knowledge after recently making improvements to the organ at St. Luke’s.  This is an opportunity to get a close look at our pipe organ and how it operates, review recent repair estimates obtained for our pipe organ and ask questions about repair options. See Trish Andrews with any questions.

Spring Fest – Our annual German Spring Fest is planned for Sat. June 22 from 1-7pm at the American Legion on Buffalo Ave. Many volunteers are needed to make this another successful year. If you can help, a sign up chart is at the book nook in the chapel. For more information, contact Ursula or Les Zimmerman at 283-5863.

Men’s Retreat – Pioneer Camp in Angola is having a Men’s Retreat May 31- June 3. The theme this year is “Building Bridges to the Lost”. There is a flyer in the chapel on the case.

King’s Faith – an outreach ministry project of Hope Lutheran (Greece, NY) tell the story of an 18 yr. old boy who attempts to leave his gang life behind. This movie offers many teaching moments for Christians in the face of today’s culture. It will premiered on April 26 at Regal Transit Center Stadium 18 (6707 Transit Rd. Williamsville).

Thank You – The Tuscher family would like to thank all those who sent cards and prayers after Tom’s passing.
