Announcements for the week of May 5, 2013

Spring Fest – Our annual German Spring Fest is planned for Sat. June 22 from 1-7pm at the American Legion on Buffalo Ave. Many volunteers are needed to make this another successful year. If you can help, a sign up chart is at the book nook in the chapel. For more information, contact Ursula or Les Zimmerman at 283-5863.

Health Screenings – Today is the last day of Health Screenings. If you don’t have any appointment there may still be openings. It’s free and only takes 15 minutes.

Spring Conference – Pastor will be out of the office on Tuesday and Wednesday this week to attend the Spring Pastors’ Conference.

Special Mission – Our Special Mission envelopes for May are designated for our Kingdom Rock Vacation Bible School to be held from August 5 – August 9.  This “castle-themed” VBS will reach many of our neighborhood children, as well as our own members, with the “Stand Strong for God” message.  For some of the

children that come to VBS, this may be the only opportunity they have to learn about the love of God.  Many supplies are needed to make this a fun week, including decorations, snacks, teacher materials, crafts, and game supplies.  If you care to donate, please place your Special Mission envelope in the offering plate during May.
Thank you for your generosity toward our April mission project, Lutheran Church Charities Comfort Dogs.  We were able to donate $528 to this mission, 100% of which will go toward the care and travel expenses for these special dogs.  In the past few months, the dogs have been sent to the East Coast after Hurricane Sandy, to Sandy Hook, and more recently to Boston and Texas.  Thank you for helping our neighbors in need.

Pipe Organ Q and A –  Please join us up in the loft today after service for a brief talk on our pipe organ. TJ Mudd, music director from St. Luke Lutheran Church, will share his experience and knowledge after recently making improvements to the organ at St. Luke’s.  This is an opportunity to get a close look at our pipe organ and how it operates, review recent repair estimates obtained for our pipe organ and ask questions about repair options.
