Holy Baptism – Today we welcome Abram Isaac Smith into the Kingdom of God through Holy Baptism. Abram was born June 10, 2013 and is the son of Robert and Lisa Smith. His sponsors are Jenny and Frank Barile and Rose Basso.
Rally Day – is next Sunday. Sunday School will resume at 9:00 and we go back to one service at 10:30. Please join us for a Fellowship Picnic after worship. There is a sign up sheet on the glass case for salads and desserts.
Congregational Voter’s Meeting with Elections – on Sunday, September 15 after the 10:30am worship the Congregation will vote to elect the following positions, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Head Trustee and Chairman of the Board of Education. Each position is a two year term. Please prayerfully consider running for one of these positions in the coming weeks. There are sheets on the glass case in chapel describing the duties involved with each position.
Hymn Sing/Choir Practice – There will be a hymn sing held this Wednesday at 7:15 PM in the chapel for all who are interested in keeping the choir going while we are in search of a new organist. Why not consider joining us for some music, fun, and fellowship? Reading music is NOT a requirement!
The Gospel of John – is the basis for a Bible Study on Thursday evenings beginning September 5 at 7:00pm.
Reverend Brese will build on the study begun last year and move forward to its conclusion. All are welcome to bring guests to the Ladies Lounge.
Social Ministries Project – NEXT WEEK is the last week to donate to our school supply and underwear/sock collection. All of these items will be delivered to Harry Abate Elementary School in Niagara Falls after next week. Our teachers and nurses are so appreciative of your donations. Many children at their school come from struggling families that cannot afford to buy supplies for school or clothing to keep their children warm. Thank you for your generous help with this project.
Social Ministries – will have a committee meeting on Wednesday, September 4, at 6 PM. This is our last scheduled meeting on a Wednesday. After this meeting, we will be changing to Sunday’s after church. Consider joining us–there are lots of tough decisions to be made.
Special Missions – September and October special mission envelopes have been designated to support Holy Ghost and St. John Lutheran Schools. The option of Christian education is one that many parents want for their children. Our donations to these schools help support their scholarship funds to make this choice a more affordable one. We have children and teachers at both of these schools. If you wish to support our local Christian educators in this way, please place your envelopes in the offering plate before the end of October.
