Announcements for the week of September 22, 2013

Office Hours – Pastor Sorenson will be out of the office Tues. – Fri. this week.

Something New – Trunk or Treat –  Social Ministries is sponsoring a “Trunk or Treat” activity here at Grace on Sunday, October 27, from 4 – 6 PM.  Members of Grace who want to participate will bring their cars to our parking lot during that time and hand out candy to “trick or treaters” from our own congregation as well as from the neighborhood.  This is an outreach opportunity, as we will also be handing out information about Grace and Bibles to those that don’t have one, along with cider and donuts.  Fall decorations and costumes are encouraged, but not mandatory.  If you would like to participate in this fun activity with your car, or by donating candy, please put your name on the sign up sheet on the book nook.

Special Missions – September and October special mission envelopes have been designated to support Holy Ghost and St. John Lutheran Schools.  The option of Christian education is one that many parents want for their children.  Our donations to these schools help support their scholarship funds to make this choice a more affordable one.  We have children and teachers at both of these schools.  If you wish to support our local Christian educators in this way, please place your envelopes in the offering plate before the end of October.

Hymn Sing/Choir Practice – There is a hymn sing every Wednesday at 7:15 PM in the chapel for all who are interested in keeping the choir going while we are in search of a new organist.  Why not consider joining us for some music, fun, and fellowship?  Reading music is NOT a requirement!

Healthy Congregations Workshop – St. John Lutheran Church will be hosting a new series called the Healthy Congregations Workshop. Instead of seeing the congregation and its leadership as separate parts, you will see their interrelatedness and how they mutually influence one another. Three Pastors from the Samaritan Counseling Center of WNY will be teaching the sessions. Pick up a brochure on the glass case for more information and sign up.
