Announcements for the week of November 3, 2013

Red Cross Blood Drive – Blood drives are held at Grace on the second and fourth Saturday of the month from 10-2 pm.

Thank You to all who participated in or supported our first “Trunk or Treat”.  We had a parking lot full of cars handing out treats, and close to 60 children and their families trick or treating for candy and gifts!  We gave away seven Bibles to families who did not have one in their home.  It was a great start to what we hope will be an annual event!

Reminder – Social Ministries has changed their meeting time to Sunday after church.  Our next meeting is scheduled for next Sunday, November 10.  There is always room for new members–consider joining us.

Harvest Food Collection – Tables have been set up in the narthex and chapel to receive donations of non-perishable food items such as boxed and canned foods.  Your donations will be used to restock our own food pantry at Grace, and extras will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry on Military Road which serves families in Niagara Falls.  St. Vincent anticipates helping hundreds of families over the holidays, and you help is needed.  Our collection will continue until Thanksgiving.

Turkeys –  St. Vincent de Paul food pantry is looking for turkey donations for to help those in need over the upcoming holidays.  Sales are starting!  If you wish to donate a turkey, it can be placed in the freezer in our basement kitchen.  Ask an usher if you need assistance in getting it downstairs.

November Special Mission Envelopes – November has been designated for “Food for the Poor”.  This organization can use a $43 donation to feed a starving child in Latin America or Haiti for a whole year.  A donation of $14 will feed a hungry family for one month.  The people they help are some of the poorest people in our world today.  If you wish to help them feed the hungry, place your special mission envelope in the offering plate during November.
