Announcements for the week of November 24, 2013

Sign Up sheets – There are sign up sheets on the glass case for the Ladies Christmas Party and also to house a student or two from the St. Paul Lutheran High Singing Saints Choir. They will be performing here on March 12 and we need to find overnight accomodations for 52 singers and 5 adults.

Typhoon Aid – We sent a total of $524 to assist victims of Typhoon Haiyan. This came from door offerings and our mission budget.

Harvest Food Collection – Our Harvest Food Collection will end this week with our Thanksgiving Eve service.  All of your generous donations will be used to restock our own food pantry, and to aid St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.  St. Vincent anticipates feeding several hundred people from the Niagara Falls area for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Our donations will be delivered next weekend to help them restock for their Christmas mission work.

Congregational Voters’ Meeting – There will be a Voters’ Meeting on Sunday, December 8 after the Worship Service. This is an important meeting where we will be voting on the Budget for 2014. Please plan on attending.

Turkeys –  We will continue to collect turkeys until December 15.  The turkeys will be used by St. Vincent de Paul for the Christmas baskets they deliver to needy families in Niagara Falls.  If you wish to donate a turkey, it can be placed in the freezer in our basement kitchen.  Ask an usher if you need assistance in getting it downstairs.

Advent Giving Tree –  Next Sunday we will have our Advent Giving Trees set up in the chapel and the narthex.  If you care to participate in this project, please take a tag off the trees and purchase the item indicated, then return it to the tree table.  All items will be delivered after Christmas to one of the community agencies we are working with on this project.

November Special Mission Envelopes – November has been designated for “Food for the Poor”.  This organization can use a $43 donation to feed a starving child in Latin America or Haiti for a whole year.  A donation of $14 will feed a hungry family for one month.  The people they help are some of the poorest people in our world today.  If you wish to help them feed the hungry, place your special mission envelope in the offering plate during November.
