Announcements for the week of December 1, 2013

Ladies Christmas Dinner – today is the last Sunday to sign up for the Grace Ladies Christmas Party on Tuesday, December 10. There is a sign up sheet on the glass case.

Student Housing – The St. Paul Lutheran High Singing Saints Choir will be performing here on March 12 and we need to find overnight accomodations for 52 singers and 5 adults. Your commitment is a place to sleep, breakfast and a ride back to church in the morning. We need you to sign up TODAY or the concert will be cancelled.

Congregational Voters’ Meeting – There will be a Voters’ Meeting next Sunday, December 8 after the Worship Service. This is an important meeting where we will be voting on the Budget for 2014. Please plan on attending.

Decorating – Please plan on staying after church on December 8 to decorate the sanctuary for Christmas. We will enjoy some fellowship and pizza.

New Bible Study – Join us Sunday mornings for a new bible study entitled Marriage and Family and learn what God’s Plan for marriage is.

Turkeys –  We will continue to collect turkeys until December 15.  The turkeys will be used by St. Vincent de Paul for the Christmas baskets they deliver to needy families in Niagara Falls. Ask an usher if you need assistance in getting it downstairs.

Advent Giving Tree –  Our Advent Giving Trees are set up in the chapel and the narthex through Christmas.  We are helping those in need through four local organizations with this project, including the Magdalene Project, Summit Life Resources, Community Mission, and Harry Abate Elementary School.  If you care to participate, please take a tag off the trees and purchase the item indicated, then return it to the tree table.  Your generosity is appreciated!

December Special Mission Envelopes – have been designated for “Samaritan Counseling”.  This organization provides faith-based counseling and is available to all in need on a sliding fee scale.  Counseling appointments are available at several convenient locations, including Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Wheatfield and St. Martin Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda.  Our own Pastor Brese is a counselor with Samaritan.  For more information, visit their web site at or call 743-9117.  You donations will help make this valuable service available to all in need.

New Organist – we are pleased to announce that Maye Smith has accepted the organist and choir director position and will start in January.
