Announcements for the week of March 2, 2014

Congregational Vote – After church today we will have a quick discussion and vote to replace the office copy machine. Our present machine is 10 years old and falling apart. The Council is recommending the purchase of a Muratec MFX-3530 at a cost of $2,220. The new machine will be covered by our current service contract.

Singing Saints Concert – We are in need of housing for 8 more people. Please consider keeping a student or two overnight! The Saint Paul Lutheran High concert choir will present a concert of sacred music here on March 12th at 6:30 PM.  Please consider joining us.  An offering will be gathered for the choir’s expenses.

Join us on Facebook – Grace Lutheran Church has a page on Facebook where we share Sunday’s sermon as well as announcements. If you “Like” our page Facebook will send our announcements to your homepage. Last week our posts reached 724 people on Facebook. Help get the word out by joining us!

New Bible Studies at Grace – Marriage and Family is being offered on Sunday mornings at 9am. The Gospel of John will be offered on Thursdays at 7pm starting Feb. 27. Come join us for one or all!

Toilet Tissue Collection – A table has been set up in the chapel to accept donations of toilet tissue during February and March for

Heart, Love, & Soul.  Beside food, this is their “most-asked-for” item.  It is something that is needed everyday, and something most of us take for granted.  If you are able to help, please remember to buy an extra roll when grocery shopping during the next couple of months.  Your donations will be greatly appreciated!

Special Mission Envelopes – March special mission envelopes have been designated to support our Penny War.  This year we are raising money to purchase special “straw filters” for children in third world countries.  These unique straws filter both dirt and diseases from the water.  They cost $10 each, and will provide pure drinking water for the child for one full year.  Each $10 donated will save one child from water-borne diseases for the next year, while work is done in their community to provide a permanent clean water source.

Me, a pastor?  Me, a deaconess?
If you have found yourself asking the question, now is the time to discuss your future!  Rev. Lannon Martin of Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana will be coming to your area on Wednesday, March 12, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 3229 Upper Mountain Road, Sanborn.  Come and explore the possibilities!  Men of all ages who are interested in learning about the Pastoral Ministry are invited, as are their wife, fiancee, and parents.  Women interested in learning about being a Deaconess are invited along with their families.  Conferences are individual.  We encourage that you email his office at Recruitment (at) ctsfw (dot) edu to request a visit, or feel free to call his office at (260) 452-3134.
