Announcements for the week of April 27, 2014

Pastor Accepts Call to VA – Pastor Sorenson has accepted a call to serve at the pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmville, VA.  His last sunday at Grace will be May 11th.  If you have anything that requires pastoral attention or you have questions please call or come in to meet with him.

Mayfest 2014 – Our annual German Mayfest is planned for Sat. May 17 from 1-7pm at the American Legion on Buffalo Ave. Many volunteers are needed to make this another successful year. If you can help, a sign up chart is at the book nook in the chapel. Pre sale tickets are available now for $10. For more information, contact Ursula or Les Zimmerman or the church office.

Penny War –  Our annual Penny War resulted in a total of $1556.67 that we will be sending to Water Is Life.  That will enable us to provide 155 straw filters that will protect 155 third world children for one full year while a permanent clean water source is being built in their community.  This is the most money our Penny War has ever collected!  Thank you for your very generous donations and support!  And congratulations to the 1st – 5th grade students who were the winners in our “war” this year!

Volunteers Needed –  Weird Animals VBS is coming to Grace July 28 – August 1 from 6 – 8 pm each evening.  Many volunteers are needed to make VBS a success again this year.

A short organizational meeting for all who are interested in helping is scheduled for May 18 after church.  If you are interested in helping, please attend the meeting or speak to Amy Folmsbee.

Special Mission – Our Special Mission envelopes for April have been designated to support the Niagara Gospel Rescue Mission on Ferry Avenue in Niagara Falls.  This mission serves three meals a day, 365 days a year to the homeless and needy men, women, and children of Niagara Falls.  They also provide safe overnight shelter and showers for homeless men, as well as job and skills training.  Their mission statement: “The Niagara Gospel Rescue Mission seeks to glorify God by bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to the poor, afflicted, and needy as we attend to their basic human needs–demonstrating His love, mercy, and grace.”

Camp Pioneer Golf Benefit -Thank you to all the golfers who registered for the Camp Pioneer Golf Benefit on Friday, June 13th. We have reached our quota of 120 participants. Please call Camp Pioneer at 549-1420 if you wish to be on a wait-list in case of any cancellations. We appreciate your ongoing support of Camp ministries!

Beautify Niagara Clean Up Day- is a city wide clean up co sponsored by the Niagara Beautification Commission. Large groups of volunteers from all across the city come together to “Paint up, Clean up and Rake up.” For more information, see Pam Simcox.
