Announcements for the week of June 8, 2014

Church Picnic – Please join us today after worship for some good food and fellowship at our Annual Church Picnic.

Congratulations Emily Markel – Each year on the second Sunday of June when Sunday School has their closing session for the summer, students who are in 3rd grade or older who have successfully completed all their required memory work receive their own “special” Bible to be used through Confirmation class and beyond. Emily Markel was presented her Bible this morning at our whole Sunday School opening, along with summer Baptism Birthdays, attendance “prizes”, and a preview of our Weird Animals VBS coming up the last week of July. Hope to see everyone at VBS and on Rally Day in September.

Diaper Project –  Next Sunday is the last day to donate to our collection of diapers and diaper rash creams for Summit Life Outreach. Baby bottle banks are due back next week also.  Thank you for your support of this mission that helps women in Niagara Falls that are dealing with crisis pregnancy situations.

Special Mission – K-9 COMFORT DOGS from Lutheran Church Charities (LCC) is our Special Mission for June.  These specially trained dogs travel with their volunteer owners throughout the United States to areas recovering from natural and man-made disasters.  They are currently working at California fire sites as well as areas affected by recent tornadoes and floods, and they continue their work in Oklahoma, Boston, and Sandy Hook.  The dogs provide comfort to those in need while creating an opening to share Christian counseling services.  LCC guarantees that 100% of our donations will go directly to the travel and care expenses for these dogs.  If you wish to support this project, place your special mission envelope in the offering plate during June.

Samaritan Counseling Center- will hold an Open House on Tuesday, June 10 from 4-7 pm. Samaritan provides faith-based non denominational counseling services at 14 convenient Western New York locations. Come meet their counselors and staff and learn more about their services and how Samaritan can help you or a loved one. Light refreshments will be served.
