Announcements for the week of October 12, 2014

There will be no Confirmation Class this week. Classes will resume Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 6:00pm.

Flu Shots and BP Clinic Today Stop by the chapel after church–you can enjoy a bowl of soup, have your BP checked, and get your flu shot from a Rite Aid pharmacist, all in one place!  Let’s stay healthy!

Trunk or Treat – PLEASE SIGN UP as soon as possible for our 2nd annual Trunk or Treat to be held rain or shine on Sunday, October 26, from 4 – 5:30 PM.  A sign up sheet for participation or donations of candy is available on the book nook.  Last year we had about 60 children and their families attend this fun event.  New participants are welcome!

Harvest Food Collection – Our annual collection of nonperishable food items will continue until Thanksgiving.  Each year we use your generous donations to restock our food pantry and to assist the Community Mission and St. Vincent dePaul’s Food Pantry in preparing for the many requests for help they will receive over the holidays.  We are also accepting donations of TURKEYS again this year.  Please remember this project as you grocery shop each week and add an item or two to your cart if you are able.

Fruit of the Vine Fun Raiser will be held at Grace from 6-9 pm on November 8. This will be an enjoyable social event with music, plenty of food and wine tastings offered by two wineries from the Finger Lakes region. Bring your adult children, a neighbor couple or book a date with friends! This is a dress up affair, for ages 21 and older. Tickets are $20 and are available after church from Trish Andrews.

Lutheran Academy – 1st Annual Fall Gala: Sat., Nov. 1 beginning at 5pm. An evening of great food, festivities, and fellowship at St. John Lutheran, highlighting the mission and gathering support for the new Lutheran Academy to open the Fall of 2015 at St. Mark, NT. Keynote speaker is Dr. Wally Schultz. Registration is $15 per person. See Jane or Ron Schulz for a registration form, call St. John (693-9677) or email academy

Special Mission Envelopes for October – are designated to support Christian education at St. John & Holy Ghost Lutheran Schools. We have students and teachers from Grace at both of these schools. Business First has ranked Holy Ghost and St. John among the top school choices in Western New York.  The cost of providing quality education in a Christian environment continues to rise. If you want to help support the tuition assistance funds at these two schools, please place your special mission envelope in the offering plate before the end of October.
