Announcements for the week of November 2, 2014

SOCIAL MINISTRIES will meet next Sunday after church.  All are welcome to join this committee as we plan our projects for the upcoming holiday season.  “Soup by Russ” is on the menu!

THANK YOU to all who donated candy or participated in last week’s “Trunk or Treat”.  About 50 – 60 children attended with their families, and a great time was had by all!  A quote from a visitor on our Facebook page sums up the tone of the event: “What a warm, welcoming church and group of people!”.  Job well done, everyone!

FRUIT OF THE VINE FUN RAISER is this Saturday, November 8 at Grace from 6-9 pm. This will be an enjoyable social event with music, plenty of food and wine tastings offered by two wineries from the Finger Lakes region to raise funds for our organ refurbishment. Bring your adult children, a neighbor couple or book a date with friends! This is a dress up affair, for ages 21 and older. Tickets are $20 and are available after church from Trish Andrews.

ATTENTION PARENTS:  Next Sunday our Sunday School students will be dressing in their costumes during Sunday School so that we can take pictures of them for use during this year’s Christmas program.  Please make every effort to have your children in Sunday School so that they can be included in the pictures.

VOTERS’ MEETING – A Congregational Voters’ Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, November 16 following the Worship Service to discuss calling a pastor. Please plan on attending.

OUR SPECIAL MISSION for November is the Samaritan Counseling Center.  Samaritan works out of several locations in Western New York, including Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Bergholz and St. Martin Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda.  Our own Rev. Dr. Erwin Brese is one of several counselors working with Samaritan.  Samaritan offers Christian-based counseling to help those struggling with many of life’s challenges.  If you wish to
support the work done by Pastor Brese and the other counselors at Samaritan, place your special mission envelope in the offering plate before the end of November.

HARVEST FOOD COLLECTION – Our annual collection of nonperishable food items will begin next Sunday.  Each year we use your generous donations to restock our food pantry and to assist the Community Mission and St. Vincent de Paul’s Food Pantry in getting prepared for the many requests for help they will receive over the holidays.  We will also be accepting donations of TURKEYS again this year.  If you are able, please remember this project as you grocery shop each week and add an item or two to your cart.  Thank you for your help.
