Announcements for November 4, 2018

LCMS DISASTER RESPONSE is our designated charity for your November special mission envelopes.  Our disaster response teams have had a busy year responding to the needs of the many families displaced by volcanic eruptions, wild fires, flooding, and, most recently, hurricane damage in the Carolinas and Florida.  Hurricane Michael resulted in extensive damage to several of our LCMS churches in the Florida panhandle.  If you wish to support our Lutheran church’s response to the thousands affected by these disasters, please place your special mission envelope in the offering plate during the month of November.

TWO SUNDAYS REMAIN to donate to our HARVEST FOOD COLLECTION:  We are accepting donations of non-perishable food items which will be used to support our local food pantry.  All donations are appreciated.  Especially needed are peanut butter, jelly, tuna, cereal, pasta and sauce, and canned fruit and vegetables.  Your gifts will be distributed to Niagara Falls families in need during the Christmas season.

HAMS & FROZEN TURKEYS are needed by Community Mission to help provide holiday meals.  Donations can be stored in our downstairs kitchen.  If you need help carrying your donation, please ask an usher for assistance.

SUNDAY SCHOOL PARENTS:  Please make every effort to have your children in Sunday School each week.  We have begun learning our music for the Christmas program on December 16th  and will soon be fitting costumes and learning reading parts.  Also, please mark your calendars for Saturday, December 15th  when we will hold our Christmas pageant rehearsal from 10 AM – 12 PM, including a pizza lunch.  Your support is appreciated!

OUR SUNDAY SCHOOL STUDENTS will sing in church next Sunday.  Please plan to stay for worship so your children can join their voices together in praising Jesus.

TODAY WE WELCOME Holy Ghost Cherub Choir as they join us for worship.  They will be singing during the service as their way of saying “thank you” for our support of Lutheran education with our September & October special mission envelopes.  Please feel free to talk to these families if you have questions about the benefits of Lutheran school education.

SOCIAL MINISTRIES MEETING is scheduled for next Sunday, November 11th.  A lunch will be provided.  New members are always welcome!

THANK YOU to all who participated in or donated to last week’s TRUNK OR TREAT.  Approximately 100 children visited us along with their parents and grandparents, and we heard many “thank you’s” from the adults as well as the children.  Thank you also goes out to the SPCA and the Niagara Falls Fire Department for joining the fun!

On behalf of Shirley Somers, she would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone for all of the beautiful greeting cards and well wishes she has received during her recovery.

The next PEW SISTERS MEETING is Thursday, November 29th  6-8 PM.  If you or a friend would like to join us for Christian fellowship and Bible Study, November is the last opportunity to join Pew Sisters before this becomes a closed group.  Please contact Lacey Bahr.

LIVE IN CONCERT:  Tim Zimmerman and The King’s Brass will be appearing in concert HERE at Grace on Thursday, December 6th at 7:00 PM.  We are in need of donors to assist in bringing this group here and also host families to help accommodate the members.

Just a friendly reminder to stop by and collect any items they may have accumulated in your CHURCH MAILBOX before departing this morning.
