Announcements for November 11, 2018

Please submit new announcements by Wednesday at noon: Office Hours Sun 8:30-12:30, W-Th 8:30-2:30.

TODAY, VETERANS DAY, IS THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY of the end of World War One. We give thanks to God for all of our family members who fought for freedom, and ask Him to protect, guide, and bless our armed forces and veterans today. We actually still have one member today who was alive at the end of WWI: Geraldine Merlin.

LCMS DISASTER RESPONSE is our designated charity for your November special mission envelopes.  Our disaster response teams have had a busy year responding to the needs of the many families displaced by volcanic eruptions, wild fires, flooding, and, most recently, hurricane damage in the Carolinas and Florida.  Hurricane Michael resulted in extensive damage to several of our LCMS churches in the Florida panhandle.  If you wish to support our Lutheran church’s response to the thousands affected by these disasters, please place your special mission envelope in the offering plate during the month of November.

HAMS & FROZEN TURKEYS are needed by Community Mission to help provide holiday meals.  Donations will be accepted into December and can be stored in our downstairs kitchen.  If you need help carrying your donation, please ask an usher for assistance.

OUR THANKSGIVING EVE SERVICE will be the last opportunity to donate to our HARVEST FOOD COLLECTION:  We are accepting donations of non-perishable food items which will be used to support our local food pantry.  All donations are appreciated.  Especially needed are peanut butter, jelly, tuna, cereal, pasta and sauce, and canned fruit and vegetables.  Your gifts will be distributed to Niagara Falls families in need during the Christmas season.

SUNDAY SCHOOL PARENTS:  Please make every effort to have your children in Sunday School each week.  We have begun learning our music for the Christmas program on December 16th, and will soon be fitting costumes and learning reading parts.  Also, please mark your calendars for Saturday, December 15th when we will hold our Christmas pageant rehearsal from 10 AM – 12 PM, including a pizza lunch.  Your support is appreciated!

SOCIAL MINISTRIES MEETING is scheduled for today after worship.  A lunch will be provided.  New members are always welcome.

2019 POCKET CALENDARS with an inspirational verse are available on the glass case and in the narthex.  Help yourself.

The Grace Ladies would like to extend a THANK YOU to everyone who donated baked goods for the Election Day Bake Sale.  Your donations helped to raise over $300.00.
