Announcements for 12/30/18

THIS IS THE LAST SUNDAY to donate to our December special mission envelopes designated for NIAGARA FALLS MEALS ON WHEELS.  This is a local program that is not connected to any other “Meals On Wheels” agencies, which means that they are able to offer assistance to those in our city that would otherwise fall through the cracks.  Their staff of four minimum wage workers and several volunteers deliver nutritious meals to elderly and disabled that cannot shop or cook for themselves.  If you are able to support their mission, please place your special mission envelope in the offering plate before the end of December.  If you wish to use the convenience envelopes located in the pews, please clearly mark the envelope “December special mission”.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS over the Advent and Christmas season.  Community Mission picked up all the turkeys and hams that were donated in December, and they were used to help provide Christmas dinner at their agency.  Also, the organizers of the Lord’s Day Christmas dinner in Niagara Falls (open to anyone needing a warm place to share dinner on Christmas) put out a request just before Christmas saying they had a “dire need” for hats and mittens.  We were able to donate a large box from our Giving Tree, and your donations were distributed on Christmas Day.  All other donations will be distributed to those in need over the next couple of weeks.  Your generosity made a difference!

PLEASE NOTE:

Sunday School and Bible classes will resume next Sunday at 9:00 AM.  We will start with a “Welcome Back Breakfast”!  All are welcome–we have classes for all ages.

Wednesday’s Adult Bible Study will not be held on Wednesday, January 2nd.  The group will gather again on Wednesday, January 9th.

ELDERS’ MEETING this Thursday, January 3rd at 6:00 PM.

FROM PASTOR BAHR & FAMILY: Thank you for all of the remembrances, cards, and the gift you gave us this Christmas. We are so glad to be part of your family. Merry Christmas!

Submissions for the February/March edition of THE GLEANINGS are due in the office by Tuesday, January 15th.  Please send to office@gracenf.org.

REMEMBERING SPECIFIC MINISTRIES reflect the wonderful heart of giving that exists among many LCMS worshipers at year end. The doctrine of‘Constructive Receipt’ restrains designation as “charitable receipt” those gifts received by December 31.   Mailed gifts use the post-date stamp from the US Postal Service to determine this date.
