THANK YOU for your generous donations to this year’s HARVEST FOOD COLLECTION. Your gifts were delivered to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry yesterday to help them restock their pantry for the upcoming Christmas season. St. Vincent has received numerous requests for assistance this year, and they are extremely grateful for our partnership in helping our neighbors in need.
TURKEYS & HAMS: Because of your generosity, we were able to deliver 12 turkeys to the Community Mission last Sunday to assist them in providing a Thanksgiving meal for the homeless that they serve. We will continue to accept turkeys and hams until December 15 to help Community Mission and the Lord’s Day Dinner provide a Christmas meal for our neighbors in need in Niagara Falls. If you need help with carrying to our downstairs freezer, please ask an usher for assistance.
ADVENT GIVING TREES are now located in the chapel and narthex. This year we are supporting several Niagara Falls agencies, including Niagara Gospel Rescue Mission, Heart, Love, & Soul, Summit Life Outreach Center, and the Magdalene Project. If you would like to participate, please take as many tags from the trees as you would like, purchase the item(s) requested, and return it unwrapped to the tree tables. We will continue to accept donations until January 5. Thank you for your generosity toward our neighbors in need.
HATS & MITTENS: In addition to the items listed on our Giving Tree tags, hats, gloves, and mittens are always needed and welcomed as we head into the cold winter months ahead. Many children and homeless adults from our inner city areas lack these items to help keep them warm.
DECEMBER SPECIAL MISSION ENVELOPES are designated for Samaritan Counseling, a local Christian counseling agency working with all ages and all types of needs. Your donations will help Samaritan provide free or reduced fee counseling to those who cannot afford to pay the full fee. If you have questions about Samaritan, please feel free to speak with Pastor Brese who worked for many years as a counselor with them, or Trish Andrews who frequently refers clients to Samaritan through her work as a nurse practitioner. Both would be glad to tell you more about their experiences with Samaritan and the great work they do. If you wish to support Samaritan, please place your special mission envelope in the offering plate before the end of December. (If you have signed up for the new e-giving option, you can donate to special missions online.)
CLEAN GENTLY USED COATS AND BLANKETS: If you have either of them and would like them to find a good home, please speak with Robin Stephenson or give her a call (471-7976). She will deliver them to Niagara Falls agencies that can give them directly to a client in need.
