Announcements for 2/2/20

A NOTE FROM PASTOR BAHR: By the time you read this note, we’ll be in sunny Florida visiting a certain mouse. Perhaps you didn’t know we were going? That’s because Lacey and I decided to surprise our boys with a secret vacation, and since they’re in church every week, we couldn’t say anything! (A special challenge was cancelling Confirmation this week – since John is in the class.) Having packed their bags clandestinely, we picked them up from what they believed was a normal day of school on Friday and, rather than go home, we went to the airport to catch our flight. I look forward to sharing their reaction with you. We’ll be back late Saturday and see you in church next week. Special thanks to Pastor Emeritus Erv Brese for standing in for me at worship today.

ANNUAL BATHROOM TISSUE COLLECTION:  Tables available in the chapel and narthex through February to receive donations of toilet tissue.  Heart, Love, & Soul tells us it is one of their most requested (but least donated) items, and their supply is especially low at the present time.  This is something that all of us use daily and most of us take for granted (until we run out, that is).  But it cannot be purchased with EBT cards (formerly called food stamps), so those living in poverty in our city often have difficulty providing this item for their families.  Your gifts will help our neighbors in need maintain their dignity.  Thank you for helping with this mission.

FEBRUARY SPECIAL MISSION ENVELOPES have been designated to help Wings Flights of Hope.  Wings is a local 100% volunteer organization that is completely reliant on charitable donations.  They provide air transportation to specialized doctors and hospitals for any person, any age, in need of medical attention.  Medical transport by air normally costs $15,000 or more.  WINGS’ pilots donate their time, planes, and all expenses so that this service is available for FREE to the patient and their family.  If you would like to help us support this local organization, please place your Special Mission envelope in the offering plate during February, or designate a special mission donation online.

A SIGN UP SHEET is available on the glass case for YOUNG LIFE’S annual fundraising dinner, scheduled for Thursday, March 26, beginning at 6 PM at Classics V on Niagara Falls Boulevard.  There is no charge to attend this dinner, however if you wish to support Young Life, donations will be accepted during the event.  Please see Dick Crawford for more information on Young Life or this annual event.

YOUTH FOR TRUTH is looking for recliner chairs and sofa beds to replace broken furniture in the Youth Room.  Please notify a youth leader if you have a donatable item.
