THE GLEANINGS submission deadline for the next issue is Wednesday, November 11th.
PLEASE SIGN UP TODAY if you plan to participate in this year’s TRUNK OR TREAT, to be held in Grace parking lot on Saturday, October 31, 1 – 2:30 PM weather permitting. If you would like to participate with your car or by donating treats, please let us know so we can proceed with our planning. When you sign up, pick up a Trunk or Treat Guidance sheet and be sure to read it prior to the event. Be aware that due to COVID restrictions, we are unable to offer indoor activities this year. Donations of individually wrapped treats can be left on the table in the chapel anytime prior to October 31. Thank you for supporting this event!
IF YOU ARE LIVE-STREAMING and would like to participate in Trunk or Treat, please call the office this week and leave a message so we can add you to the list. Also, if you would like to donate to “Cases for a Cause” or our turkey and ham collection, you can arrange a drop off time by calling Erin in the office. We are also accepting gift card donations from grocery stores, Walmart, & Target.
SPECIAL MISSION ENVELOPES UNTIL THE END OF OCTOBER support Lutheran education at St. John & Holy Ghost schools. Last year, due to your generous donations, we were able to support each school with a check for $1100. The option of quality education in a Christian environment is important for families in today’s world. If you want to support our Lutheran Schools, please use your special mission envelope before the end of October, or donate online under “special missions”.
CASES FOR A CAUSE: Tables are available in the narthex and chapel for our annual Harvest Food Collection to help St. Vincent de Paul food pantry on Military Road. They are currently serving 50 local families. They have shared that they are having difficulty purchasing food in bulk amounts due to the pandemic, so we will attempt to fill “Cases for a Cause”. We have containers available for their most needed food items, which include tuna and canned meats, pasta and pasta sauce, peanut butter and jelly, canned fruit and vegetables, macaroni & cheese, cereal, and chunky style soups. Of course, any non-perishable food item will be appreciated. We will continue this project until Thanksgiving, so please be sure that your donations do not expire before the end of 2020.
TURKEY & HAM donations are needed to help our soup kitchens feed our neighbors in need over the holidays. Donations can be stored in our downstairs kitchen freezer. If you need help carrying your donation, an usher will be glad to assist you.
