THE GLEANINGS: Submission deadline for the next issue is Thursday, November 12th.

“EXPLORING THE LUTHERAN FAITH” CLASS will be offered on Sunday mornings following worship beginning December 6. Childcare is available following the same guidance as Sunday School. If you are thinking about membership at Grace, this is the class you need. Members are welcome to come and get a refresher. Please register in advance by contacting the office.

TIM ZIMMERMAN & THE KING’S BRASS will be back with us next year, COVID permitting! Save the date: Tuesday, June 15, 2021; invite your friends and watch for more information on this incredible musical entertainment event you won’t want to miss.

NOVEMBER SPECIAL MISSION ENVELOPES will support LCMS Disaster Response.  Lutheran Emergency Response Teams (LERT) continue to aid the victims of the many disasters our country has experienced during 2020, including massive wildfires, unprecedented numbers of hurricanes, flooding, and tornadoes.  The rebuilding process will take years.  Please consider if you are able to help by using your November Special Mission Envelope before the end of the month.  You can also donate online by clicking “Special Missions”.

CASES FOR A CAUSE:  Tables will continue to be availablein the narthex and chapel through 11/22 forour annual Harvest Food Collection to help St. Vincent de Paul food pantry on Military Road.  They are currently serving 50 local families.  They have shared that they are having difficulty purchasing food in bulk amounts due to the pandemic, so we will attempt to fill “Cases for a Cause”.  We have containers available for their most needed food items, which include tuna and canned meats, pasta and pasta sauce, peanut butter and jelly, canned fruit and vegetables, macaroni & cheese, cereal, and chunky style soups.  Of course, any non-perishable food donation will be appreciated.  We will deliver your donations on Thanksgiving weekend to help St. Vincent restock for Christmas, so please be sure that your donations do not expire before the end of 2020.

TURKEY & HAM donations are needed to help our local soup kitchens provide holiday meals for our neighbors in need.  Donations can be stored in our downstairs kitchen freezer.  If you need help carrying your donation, an usher will be glad to assist you.  

IF YOU ARE LIVE-STREAMING and you would like to donate to “Cases for a Cause” or our turkey and ham collection, you can arrange a drop off time by calling Erin in the office.  We are also accepting gift card donations from grocery stores, Walmart, & Target which St. Vincent de Paul will use to shop for the extras they need.  Thank you for your support.SOCIAL MINISTRIES MEETING:  There will NOT be a committee meeting next Sunday.  Committee members will be contacted regarding the special mission donations to St. John & Holy Ghost schools as soon as final figures are available.

TRUNK OR TREAT will be held at Grace this Saturday, 10/31 (Halloween), from 1 – 2:30 PM weather permitting.  Bring your kids and friends and enjoy trick or treating in our parking lot.  If you would like to participate with your car, you can still sign up on the glass case, or you can call the church office and we will add you to the list.  If you have volunteered to donate candy or other treats, please leave it on the table in the chapel before Saturday.  COVID required distancing will be observed, and masks should be worn when distancing is not possible.

PLEASE SIGN UP TODAY if you plan to participate in this year’s TRUNK OR TREAT, to be held in Grace parking lot on Saturday, October 31, 1 – 2:30 PM weather permitting.  If you would like to participate with your car or by donating treats, please let us know so we can proceed with our planning.    When you sign up, pick up a Trunk or Treat Guidance sheet and be sure to read it prior to the event.  Be aware that due to COVID restrictions, we are unable to offer indoor activities this year.  Donations of individually wrapped treats can be left on the table in the chapel anytime prior to October 31.  Thank you for supporting this event!

LAST WEEK’S FLU SHOT CLINIC resulted in the immunization of 14 members, which ties our highest number from previous years.  If you were unable to attend, flu shots are available at your doctor’s office or pharmacy and are covered by most insurances.

FLU SHOT CLINIC TODAY:  If you are participating, please proceed to the chapel after worship (wearing your mask) and choose a seat where you will find paperwork available for you to fill out.  As you complete the form, you will be called into the Ladies’ Lounge one at a time to receive your vaccine.  We will enter the lounge through the door across from the office, and leave through the door near the parking lot.  Thank you for cooperation so that we can maintain Covid safety precautions.

BABY BOTTLE BANKS for our Summit Life Resources mission project should be given to Alice Moll or dropped off in the office as soon as you are able.

LAST CHANCE TO STOCK THE SHOPPE:  Next Sunday will end our September Social Ministries project supporting Summit Life Resources.  Summit is a Christian organization located in Niagara Falls that is committed to helping women in crisis pregnancy situations.  Summit offers support through free pregnancy testing and sonograms, counseling, parenting and childcare education, and referrals to agencies that can help meet their many needs.  To encourage attendance at various sessions, clients earn credits with each contact that allow them to choose baby items from the Summit Parenting Shoppe.  We will be accepting donations of baby clothes, diapers, wipes, infant toiletries, and baby blankets to help “Stock the Shoppe”.  If you would like to support this project, tables are available in the narthex and chapel for your gifts.

CHURCH OFFICE HOURS beginning the week of September 7th will be Monday, Thursday and Friday from 10AM – 2PM and Sundays 9:30AM – 12:30PM. Closed Labor Day.

THANK YOU for your generous donations to our July/August special mission envelopes.  We will be sending a check for $375 to four local food pantries, including Heart, Love & Soul, Community Mission, Salvation Army, and Niagara Rescue Gospel Mission.  Your help for our neighbors in need is greatly appreciated.

YOUR SCHOOL SUPPLY & CLOTHING donations filled 12 large boxes!  Thank you for your generous support of our summer Social Ministries project.  Your gifts will be distributed to children in need by the staff at Harry Abate Elementary School in Niagara Falls.

CHOIR MEMBER REMINDER:  Choir rehearsals are on hold for now.  However, if you are interested in singing a solo or duet, please let Maye know.  She is willing to arrange practice times as needed.  Be aware there are some restrictions on song selections related to copyright restrictions associated with YouTube, but hymns of public domain can be used as well as selections covered under licenses that Grace currently holds.  So step up to the microphone if you are so inclined!

REMINDER – Sunday School staff meeting today at 11:45, outdoors at our side office entrance. We are meeting to discuss the plans to kick-off our Sunday School for the 2020-2021 school year.

TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY to donate to our July/August special mission for our local food pantries.  Your donations will benefit four pantries, including Heart, Love & Soul, Community Mission, Salvation Army, and Niagara Gospel Rescue Mission.  If you use the convenience envelopes located in the pews, please clearly mark them as “August Special Mission”. THE AMERICAN RED CROSS Blood Drive held last week on August 22nd was a success and they want to thank Grace for hosting. They had 17 donors which will go on to help save up to 51 lives!
