Mission of the Month: Local Lutheran education. Ranked 8th of 252 private elementary schools and 10th of 191 private middle schools in WNY, St. John Lutheran School in North Tonawanda is beginning its 176th school year. It is accredited by National Lutheran Schools Accreditation and serves nearly 190 students and their families in classes PreK 3 through 8th grade. Your Mission of the Month donation helps them daily bring the love of God to their community.
DOOR OFFERING: Today and again next Sunday we will be providing the opportunity to assist those impacted by Hurricane Ian by contributing to a door offering. Baskets will be available at each door after worship for those who wish to help in this way.
SOCIAL MINISTRIES MEMBERS: We will have a brief meeting immediately after worship in the chapel to discuss if and how we can assist our Florida neighbors who are dealing with the effects of this week’s hurricane.
CHOIR: There will be a short practice after church next Sunday in the balcony.
HARVEST FOOD COLLECTION: Next Sunday we will begin accepting donations of non-perishable food items on tables located in the narthex and chapel. We partner with St. Vincent de Paul food pantry on Military Road which serves families in the Niagara Falls and Town of Niagara areas. Due to supply chain shortages, they are no longer able to purchase the foods they need in bulk. This, along with rising food prices, has resulted in a significant increase in expenses. They are in need of assistance to stock their shelves. Our mission project to help our neighbors will continue until Thanksgiving.
TURKEYS & HAMS: We will be accepting donations of turkeys and hams through mid-December. Please consider if you are able to support this project to help the Salvation Army, Community Mission, Lighthouse Women & Children, and the Lord’s Day Dinner provide holiday dinners for our neighbors in need. Your gifts can be stored in the downstairs kitchen freezer. If you need help carrying, please ask an usher for assistance.
TRUNK OR TREAT will be held in our parking lot on Saturday, October 29, from 3 – 4:30 pm. Please sign the sheet located on the glass case if you plan to participate or are able to donate candy and snacks.
RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE will be on October 22 from 9:00am – 1:00pm.
