NEXT SUNDAY’S READINGS are Isaiah 50:4-9a, Philippians 2:5-11, and Matthew 26:1-27:66.
CHOIR REMINDER: There is rehearsal today after worship. It is our last rehearsal prior to Holy Week. (The previously scheduled practice for 3/29 has been cancelled.)
LAST CHANCE: Next Sunday is the last opportunity to donate toilet paper for Heart, Love, & Soul. If you would like to support this project, tables are available in the narthex and chapel. Thank you for supporting this project.
NEXT SUNDAY is the last Sunday to donate using our MARCH MISSION ENVELOPES, designated to support Samaritan Counseling. This is a local faith-based counseling service based out of St. Martin Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. They offer counseling at several locations, including virtual counseling. Our donations will be used by Samaritan to help defray the cost for those in need of counseling that cannot afford their usual fee. Pastor Brese worked with Samaritan in the past, and Trish Andrews referred numerous patients to them during her career with excellent feedback. Both highly recommend this agency, and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
THIS WEDNESDAY will be the last time a SIMPLE SUPPER is offered prior to our 6:30 pm Lenten services. There will NOT be Simple Suppers prior to Holy Week services.
SPRING CLEANING PARTY: Saturday, March 28th starting at 9AM. We will be working in groups in the choir loft, sanctuary, chapel, and ladies lounge to do the annual extra cleaning. Sign-up sheet on the glass case, you can sign up anytime prior so that supplies can be purchased.
2026 FLOWER CHART is now hanging in the narthex. Cost for a centerpiece is $50, or you can choose two vases at a cost of $64. When you sign up for a date, please find the altar flower order form outside either sanctuary entrance. Please complete the form and return to the church office no later than the Sunday week before your date.
| LENTEN SERVICE – MARCH 25th @ 6:30PM |
Jesus foretells His own betrayal, death, and resurrection in today’s text (Mark 8:31–9:1). This shows us that the way of salvation only comes through the path of suffering (Hebrews 2:10). Jesus’ suffering, His Passion, does not simply mean that He sympathizes with us. Rather, it means that He participates in our suffering, and we in His. His betrayal, the crown of thorns, the shameful cross—all of these lead to how Jesus “gave His dying breath,” as we sing in the series hymn. In the Passion reading, we will also hear how He dies (Mark 15:33–47) and what that means for us today.
