Please join us next Sunday, February 26, 2011 to hear the Rev. David D. Hansen speak services about a ministry providing direct relief to the poor throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Pastor Hansen will share what he has witnessed about Food For The Poor’s mission to care for the destitute as a means of living out the Gospel mandate to love one another. Pastor Hansen was ordained in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in 1985. He has served as a pastor in parishes in Louisiana, Georgia and South Carolina. In addition to preaching for Food for the Poor he serves in a local food pantry. Please join in welcoming Pastor Hansen.
In the sermon today we learned that sometimes God expects us to give up the rights that He has given us so that He may be glorified and our neighbors may be served. These four questions help us to figure out when it may be appropriate to give up our rights.
1. “Will exercising my rights honor God by showing the power of the gospel in my life?”
2. “Will exercising my rights advance God’s kingdom – or will it advance only my interests at the expense of his kingdom?”
3. “Will exercising my rights benefit others?”
4 “Is exercising my rights essential for my own well-being?”
